My Mother drove me to the airport. Aside from the radio buzzing in the background we sat in silence, neither of us knowing what to say. The windows were rolled down letting the fresh air consume us. "So..." My Mum started, breaking the silence "are you really sure you want to do this? I mean there's other options you don't have to go so far away for college."
"This is me Mum" I replied "the city's for me, it's been my dream to move to California ever since I was eight. you know that. I know it's hard but you have to let me go, I'll be fine I promise."
She just nodded the tears evident in her glimmering green eyes, identical to mine. I didn't want her to cry or to even miss me, she'd spent all of her life watching over me always putting me before herself even if it risked her health. Now that I'm old enough to look after myself she should start focusing on herself and get her life back, the one she lost the moment I was born. She wouldn't admit that I was a mistake, but I knew I was. She was only 16 years old when I was born she raised me by myself when her parents disowned her, my father died just two weeks after my birth, it was supposedly accidental but I doubt that, he was murdered; everyone knew it.
"We're here" Mum announced, pulling me out of my bubble of thoughts, as she stepped out the car towards the boot. She grabbed out my two suitcases standing them upright on the ground before hugging me goodbye.
"I'm going to miss you, so much. take care sweetie. I love you Jordan." she pulled back looking me in the eyes and kissed my cheek.
"I love you too Mum, always" I said before she walked back around to the car stepping in and hitting the gas. That was the last I saw off her before I left home, the place I'd always knew, for my new life in California.
