I hadn't been in London that long so getting used to the underground and how busy everywhere is all the time has been overwhelming. Luckily I found a little cafe/bookstore around the corner from my loft called Crack in the Street. It's more of an indoor alley but it's cosy and the hot chocolate is amazing. (picture inserted at the top). It's been so busy my first week in work has involved going through pieces of novels and deciding which ones are worth handing to my boss and which ones aren't.

So I decided on this lovely Saturday morning I would get some work done at the cafe. Even on my day off I have a load of author's pieces to read! I have a shower and look for something cute to wear considering the weather is so nice today. I decide on a black top, ripped blue jeans and black heels. For my makeup I just did a full face with coffee coloured shadow, a dirty pink lip and tied my hair up in a messy bun. I take a picture and upload it to Instagram before picking up my work bag and walking round to the cafe.

I unload my laptop and notebooks onto a little table in the corner and order my usual hot chocolate from the barista. When she brings it over I get straight to work by going through my emails and making a list of all the authors who's pieces I need to get through today. I look over my list and there are six samples to read, hopefully I find atleast one good one to pass on today. I put my phone on silent and start the first one which is called Along the Water Front.

Throughout the day the barista, who I now know is called Megan, keeps bringing over fresh hot chocolate as I progress through my work load. It is now around 3pm and I'm starting to get hungry so I order a sandwich and eat it whilst I edit the pieces I liked most. I knew what kind of books were popular lately and what my boss was looking for so narrowing the authors down was pretty easy. After reading the plot summaries and little snippets of the stories I was given, my three favourites were Along the Water Front, Hidden in the Open and Moved. The first was a romance but with a dark twist where the protagonist ended up killing herself by jumping off a cliff to get away from the cruel man she once loved. The second was about a serial killer who eventually got away with it because he married a police officer who helped him cover it up and stopped killing. Moved was more predictable, in which a boy fell in love with a girl who had autism and he was trying to make her see herself the way he saw her. I finished up editing and forwarded the three pieces to my boss so he could review them on Monday.

When I looked up from my laptop I saw a few lads sat on a table across from me making quite alot of noise. I must've been so focused on my work because I hadn't even heard them come in, sit down or get their drinks. One of them smiled at me, he had light brown hair, skinny but lean body and was slightly taller than average height. I smiled and looked away at the perfect time to see Megan coming over.

"Hey Amity. Do you want another hot chocolate or a milkshake?" She asks politely.

"Actually a chocolate milkshake sounds amazing in this weather, could I have it to go please? I will pack my stuff up and come to the counter for it, I need to pay for my drinks anyway."

"Sure." With that, she takes my empty cup and walks away. Megan is the type of girl I would describe as underrated. I don't know much about her as I only met her a week ago but I can tell she's intelligent but too shy to appreciate her own easy going beauty. I pack up my laptop, notebook and pencil case before getting up to go to the counter. The boy who previously smiled at me is already there so I wait behind him patiently. When he steps back I take my milkshake.

"How much do I owe you Megan?" I ask.

"Actually this lad here has paid your bill, lucky girl, you'll be fighting girls for him soon." She smiles and walks into the back leaving me and him stood awkwardly. I just presume he's a player and that's what Megan meant.

"You really shouldn't have, I've been sat here all day drinking hot chocolate whilst I work. It's too much." I look up at him and try to be as polite and grateful as possible.

"Honestly it's fine, I wanted to. I noticed you when I came in but you looked so focused I didn't want to interrupt. You are very pretty, but I bet you get that alot. I'm Harry if you didn't already know."

"Yeah I'm just getting some work done. I definitely do not get that alot and I don't know why I would already know your name, I just moved here. I'm Amity by the way." I smile and shake his hand and he looks at me with a confused look on his face. Maybe he's a model or something and I should know who he is.

"So you don't really know that many people here. Well maybe we could have hot chocolate together here one day. Could I get your number?" My cheeks flush and I debate whether or not I should just hand over my number. However, he has paid my bill and been incredible cordial so i decide to give it to him. He hands over his phone and I add my name and number to his contacts.

"Right, I'm going to go but I look forward to hearing from you Harry. Thank you so much for the drinks."

"Bye Amity."

I wave bye to Megan and walk out the cafe and back round to my apartment. When I get in it's just before 6pm, so I make some dinner and watch Netflix. Not long after I take myself to bed and fall straight to sleep. Exciting Saturday night...
