George Lance is a businessman, he doesn't care about the consequences as long as he gets what he wants. He has dark hair and beady eyes. I never like to be in the same room as him, as he always darkens the room. You will always see him in a black suit with his briefcase in one hand and phone in the other. If he doesn't have it, one of his personal guards has it. I don't doubt for a second that he would not hesitate to orchestrate a kidnapping to higher his position. The only problem is tying it back to him, because he will try to frame someone else.I tell the police everything and after they give me a lecture on not leaving it alone. My mother calls me later that day telling me she is going to hold a press conference to tell that state she will be stepping down until her daughter is returned, must to the dismay of the police. Two days after the conference my mother was officially out of office, and the next day Lance was in. He was to comfortable with the whole situation, and while he says he is looking into the kidnapping, I doubt it. The police were still looking into him, but so far nothing. It has been a week since my mother left office and my sister is still missing. My mother was driving me up the walls, everything was hitting her all at once. My mother has not left the house recently, she's been looking through photo albums.
A week and a half later my mother finally leaves the house, but she doesn't tell me where she's going. Fearing for my mother I follow her, once again doing something I probably shouldn't. She drives to the outskirts of town by that same construction site. I park my car around the block and hid behind a mound of dirt. I make sure my phone is on silent, she no one can realize I am here.
A black van pulls up. I start recording what's happening on my phone just incase. A man in jeans and leather jacket steps out of the van, he is bald and wears sunglasses. He walks to the side door and opens it. He ducks in and yanks someone out. I can't believe it, my sister is still alive, I bite my tongue in order to keep myself from screaming and running to her. Her mouth is duct taped shut. On my phone I zoom it on his to try and get a better look, but my eyes instantly go to the cuts and bruises on my sister. It looks like she's in pain, and I want to cry. He pushes her to the ground then gets in the car and leaves. I run up and record the van pulling away before stopping the video. In the past week I have watched enough criminal justice shows to know what is needed to help, and a liscense plate can be good.
My mother cradles Juliana in her arms and I wrap my arms around them both. We all are in tears. After ten minutes my mother takes Juliana to the hospital to make sure she is alright and I head to the police station to give them the video.
Next week I me and Juliana are watching the news, when a new segment comes on about George Lance. I turn up the volume. We see Lance being walked out of the governor's office in handcuffs. The caption underneath says, 'George Lance arranged kidnapping to earn governor title." For a short while they talk about how he hired kidnappers to take Miranda Gates' daughter, and how Gates will be returning to office. I run and ask my mom and she confirms it is true, then she hugs me and says, "This time I'll do better, I will spend more time with you two and not let work consume me. I love you two."
"We love you too."
