The camp was really tiny when Acelin and I came to it. What if they were all shadow magicians? I wonder.
"Come." Acelin said to me, not looking back. I stepped behind my master and stopped when we came right in front of the campfire. Around it, three figures was seated, staring intensely at me.
"Ace, I thought you were getting drinks, not a woman." The one on the left said. His brunette hair fell gracefully over his face that complimented his big turquoise eyes. His face was pretty emotionless. He seemed around his early twenties.
"Guys, this is Yuneasia. Yuneasia, the one on the left is Flint, next to him is Quinn and next to her is Nelly.
Quinn had a dark aura around her, it was very clear it was directed at me. Her black eyes bored into the darkness of my hood and her long white hair fell down to the small of her back. She looks like someone you don't want to mess with. She looked around the same age as Flint.
Nelly was smiling at me with an ear-to-ear smile which was very cute, to admit. His dirty blonde hair was cut short and spiked out in all directions. He looked like he was in his teen years. His ocean blue eyes was shining in the firelight.
"Yuneasia. Strange but nice." Flint said.
"H-hi." I said shyly. This was awkward for me, Master Zorun didn't allow me to speak when a group of his friends was around.
"Still Acey, why did you bring a girl here?" Quinn asked, eyes widening when she looked at Acelin.
"She was Zorun's pathetic pet. I felt pity for her."
Ouch, that stung. It was true but I wish it wasn't.
I stepped backwards and fiddled with my hands, tracing over some scars on my palm.
"Whatever but what will she be of use to us?" Flint said.
"It's nice to have another girl in the group." Nelly cheered. I loved his spirit already.
"She'll help us on the journey." Acelin said bluntly.
Nelly's happiness tuned down a bit and Quinn smirked. Flint still kept his stoic face.
Acelin walked to one of the tents and entered, leaving me with the three. I walked slowly to the fire and sat down on the log, furtherest to everyone else. Nelly moved over to me.
"Can you please take off your hood? I wanna see what you look like!" Nelly asked with a pout.
I chuckled at his childish behaviour and grabbed the hood, tugging it at the back, pulling the hood off and exposing my face. His eyes widened and I think even Flint's eyes did too. I blushed from the extra attention and pulled some of my hair falling onto my face back. Quinn did a 'tch' and stood up, going into Acelin's tent.
I was use to her rude actions, Zorun was way harsher.
"Don't worry about her. She's just mean towards new people." Flint said.
"You mean she's rude to girls that's close to Acelin?" Nelly smirked.
"Don't let her hear you." Flint said with a hint of a smile on his lips.
Nelly's attention turned to me.
"Is that dark blue through your hair?" He asked, pulling at my hair. It was gentle and he examined the strands of hair close to the fire.
"Yeah. I think it has something to do with my ability." I giggled. This was so exciting, being able to talk freely. It still feels strange, but Nelly's adorableness and Flint's company's was heartwarming.
"What's your ability?" Flint asked. His face was not stoic anymore, more friendly. I wanted to tell them about my Dream ability, but I guess two of them knowing wouldn't hurt.
"I'm a Dream magician." I stared into the fire, remembering what powerful people do to people with powers like me. Flint's face dropped and Nelly's eyes glistened.
"But I thought all the Dreams were captured and taken to Laos?" Nelly asked.
I gulped at the memories. Laos was the prison for Dreams, the people there didn't think Dreams were people, but witches getting into the mind's, tormenting them. The things they me do. The scars my friends and I got for placing a step out of line.
The pain.
The horror.
Laos was a living hell.
Tears brimmed my eyes and I rubbed them away.
"I escaped with the help of my friends." I sniffed.
"Where are you friends now?" Flint asked.
I held in a cry as I remembered their last words. 'Die with memories, not dreams.' I felt the warm drops run down my face.
"They died for me." I whimpered. Bony arms wrapped around my shoulders and a strong hand on my shoulder. Flint was on my left now, and Nelly with his arms around me on the right.
"Die with memories, not dreams." I whispered.
Nelly's body tensed and Flint raised an eyebrow.
"It was the last thing they said to me." I paused. "There was a window looking out to a hill next to the prison. The sun set over the mountain. When we escaped, my friends slowed down to take out the guards pursuing us. They did, but the guards stabbed them all before they could escape. One of the them died instantly, and I dragged all of them up the hill. It was sunset, and the rest of them died staring at the beautiful sun. I buried them there." I cried hopelessly. I couldn't save them. They all had a good death, Tracey, Nora. Daisy. More tears spilled when I thought of Taryn. She died before she got to she the sunset. And she was always the one wishing to see the sunset on top of the hill. And she never got to see it, her one dream.
Nelly was comforting me with sweet nothings.
"I'm a shapeshifter magician. Nelly is a forest magician." Flint said, trying to change the topic. I nodded my head. Only the crackling wood in the fire was all that was heard as we stared blankly into it. I didn't want to ruin the night, though I may already have.
"What do you want to dream about tonight?" I asked, smiling at them.
Nelly lifted his head at me.
"I wanna dream about pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows!" He cheered. I chuckled, he was such a cutie. He yawned and stood up.
"Well I'm going to sleep, I gonna have the best dream ever." He yelled happily and waved to us. "Goodnight!" He skipped to his tent.
Flint and I laughed at his actions.
"Pink fluffy unicorns aye?" I chuckled to Flint.
He rolled his eyes. "It gets worse." I smacked his arms gently.
I noticed he didn't answer my question.
"What do you want to dream about?" I asked him.
He kept silent for a while then looked up to me and said.
"I want to dream about your escape from Laos." He whispered.
What?
