"I wanna be the one you call, every day and night,
Are you gonna be the one who's always gonna treat me right?
And when we get together, turning down the lights.
Need you 100, need you 100 percent.

I wanna be the one you tell all your friends about,
Baby I'll be the one you just can't do without.
You gotta give me everything, baby ain't no doubt.
Give me 100, need you 100 percent."

Despite managing to contain their excitement the whole of the way home, Ace Rivers and her best friend Tala Lynn let out a chorus of excited squeals, just as soon as Belch Huggin's Trans~Am disappeared round the street corner.
Tala and, her new boyfriend, Patrick Hockstetter had vowed to spend the weekend together. The overly hormonal, dark haired boy had looked more than a little disappointed when Tala had invited Ace, due to having no boyfriend of her own to spend the weekend with. Patrick's signature smirk returned when Ace politely declined, the idea of a third-wheeling-weekend not appealing to her much. Only a second after, Henry Bowers took a seat beside the three of them at their lunch table and offered to join the 'party' and save Ace from feeling awkward about it. The whole conversation concluded with a plan for all four of them to stay in the River's household on the Friday night, when both her parents were on a two night vacation. Patrick rhythmically tapped his fingers on Tala's thigh, ecstatic at the thought of a night in an empty house with her.
Knowing they had plenty to prepare before the boys arrived, the two girls quickly made their way through the front door and ran up the carpeted staircase. Once the two of them reached Ace's bedroom, they dropped their heavy bags on the floor and began frantically getting changed. Once she had taken her boring school skirt off and half-slipped-on a pair of black jeans, Ace hopped over to her cassette collection and pulled out the True Blood album, by Madonna. As Papa Don't Preach started to play, she finally got into her jeans and made her way back to the wardrobe.
After an hour of makeup, changing and preparing the house passed, the two girls slumped down on the brown leather sofa, sighing in unison. Just as the room fell silent again, a knock echoed through the hallway. Ace and Tala exchanged an excited, but also tired glance and stood to go and answer the door.
"I'll get it." Ace said quietly, beckoning for her best friend to sit down. The boys knocked again on the front door. She walked over to it and opened it wide, to see Patrick and Henry stood awkwardly on the doorstep. As soon as he spotted Tala sat on the couch, Patrick slinked past Ace and towards his girlfriend and pulled her onto his lap without a greeting to either girl.
Ace and Henry watched from the doorway, before turning to each other in sync.
"Hey." Both of them spoke at the same time and gave awkward smiles. Henry carried his small bag inside and left Patrick's outside on the step. Ace shut the door behind him.
Three hours later, when Henry had gone to the bathroom and Patrick had left to retrieve his night-bag, Tala shuffled towards Ace and laid her long legs over her friend's lap.
"You and Henry would be totally cute together!" She said, a little too loud. Ace shushed her with a giggle and rolled her eyes.
"You're just saying that because you feel bad that I don't have a boyfriend."
Tala inhaled deeply in thought and chewed on the inside of her lip.
"Okay—maybe you're right...but that doesn't mean that I don't think you'd be good together." Ace rolled her eyes and pushed Tala's legs off of her's.
"Just don't say anything in front of him, yeah?" Ace looked with hopeful eyes. Tala let out a thoughtful hum.
"I can't promise anything." Tala said with a wink. Just as soon as the two of them returned to their original positions, Patrick entered the lounge with a smirk on his face. He sat down next to his girlfriend and spoke to her in a voice intended for Ace to hear.
"Wanna know what's in my bag, baby?" He said, giving Ace a glance to make sure she was watching them. Tala giggled and wrapped her hand around his forearm. Patrick leaned in towards her and whispered into her ear. She widened her eyes and her jaw dropped in shock.
"We should try it out." He spoke clearly, as to avoid any questions from Ace. Tala looked to her nervously.
"Um—can we—go...?" before she had even finished the question, Ace knew what Tala was asking. Ace scrunched her face uncomfortably and signified that she didn't want any more information.
"Just go!" She said with a laugh.
Before she left with her boyfriend, Tala leaned to whisper in the other girl's ear,
"Don't be too loud with Henry while we're gone." She whispered, causing a gasp to leave her friend's mouth. And before another moment passed, she was alone.
Ace sat for what felt like half an our, but was actually only two minutes in silence, until Henry returned. He was surprised when he saw that two of them had left.
"Where's Romeo and Juliet?" He asked with a small laugh, as he sat down beside her. Ace was astonished by his literature knowledge, but figured he had only heard of the iconic story and never studied it, as Patrick and Tala were nothing like Romeo and Juliet.
"They—." Ace was cut off by a chorus of noise from upstairs that she wished she hadn't heard. The both of them laughed at the simultaneous explanation.
"Don't it make you sad?" Henry suddenly asked, causing her to frown in confusion. He noticed that she didn't understand and continued, "Those two—all loved up and sh*t." He gestured toward the ceiling, but kept his eyes on her. His questions were a reflection of his own feelings.
Ace shrugged and stared blankly at the carpeted ground. "She's my best friend—why would it make me sad?" She looked to Henry, as a smirk grew across his face.
"You've never had a boyfriend—ain't you jealous?" He mocked, causing her to roll her eyes.
"Shut your damn face, Henry." She giggled, slapping him lightly on his forearm. He was right, but there was no chance of her letting the information out.
"You ever even been kissed by a boy?" He asked suddenly, turning towards her. A pink blush arose on her cheeks, but she didn't answer him. He let out a chuckle and slid his arm behind her on the sofa.
"No—I haven't...but that isn't a terrible thing is it? Am I missing—" Ace began rambling on, as Henry would've said, but she was cut off.
"You wanna try it?" He asked, edging a little closer to her. She could feel his warm breath against her cheek, which was becoming progressively redder by the second. She nodded quickly, but remained incredibly still, as he leaned in. "Relax." He whispered against her lips, as he slipped his hands around her waist. She did as he had said and arched her back into him. Henry pressed against her and tilted his head to the side. Less than a minute later, the two of them were interrupted. They failed to hear footsteps down the stairs, or the low mumble of voices that accompanied them and were only made aware of the return of their friends when Tala gasped loudly from the doorway.
Henry and Ace pulled away to see the Patrick and his girlfriend, who were staring right at them. While Tala was ecstatic to see her best friend finally with someone, Patrick seemed proud of his friend.
"We can—leave you to it if you want?" Tala asked, with a grin to Ace. She gave a wink in return. Henry looked to Ace with a raised eyebrow, mocking her innocence.
Everyone was surprised when Ace agreed to the idea and Patrick and Tala quickly went back upstairs. Henry and Ace spent the rest of the night together.

The End.
