I zipped the lid of my final luggage closed. Packing my bags was probably the hardest thing I've had to do so far. With a huff, I collapsed into my bed next to my best friend. Surrounding me, were the others. Madison at the foot of the bed, Ryan, Jaeda, and Katie seated comfortably on my white carpet floor. This is Only the hardest moment because we've been close since middle school. Classes together, no one allowed at our lunch table except us.
We just lay there, quiet. All of a sudden, a small sound rippled through the air and and an unpleasant smell filled our noses. Ryan started giggling, until all of us broke out into a fit of hysterics. Of course HE'D be the one who dealt it.
We were all laughing so hard that we had to double over, clutching our sides and stomachs. Finally after a few minutes, the laughing died down, and we were all wiping tears from our eyes and gasping for our breaths."This sucks." Sami was the first to admit. A comfortable silence fell over us. I got up to change into my favorite pair of sweatpants and an old t-shirt, not bothering to cover up since we've all seen each other bare naked, anyways (skinny dipping. We did crazy stuff. Don't ask.)
"We should watch a movie," Katie suggested, "you know, like old times. Make one last memory?"
"Katie, I think We've made enough lasting memories for the weekend." Madison joined in. She was right, this entire weekend was CRAZY. During the day we hung out, went shopping, out to eat, etc. Then during the night, we partied, drank tons, partied more. Wild parties, too. This weekend wasn't very calm. Not very good on my head, either. Every morning I woke up with an extreme pounding in my head.
I nodded my head at them with a slight smile. A movie sounded like the perfect way to end my last night in America, and with my friends.
Everyone was quiet, waiting for some to ask THE question. The question nobody dates to ask first anymore. We may be close, but we argue about almost everything. I finally decided that I'd step up to the plate, be the bigger man.
"Okay... Well... what should we watch?"
And so World War III began.
~~~~~
35 loud, Obnoxious minutes later, we finally decided on a movie. Madison popped it into my Blue Ray DVD player and settled herself back onto my bed. I curled up next to Sami in my fluffy comforter, my head on her shoulder, her head on mine.
The movie started off good, we let out a few chuckles. Everyone was beat, though. Eventually every sound died down, and glossy eyes were on stuck the tv screen.
After a while, a few soft snores could be heard around the room. I couldn't sleep. My mind was reeling. Who my roommates would be, or am I gonna like them. If my classes will be impossibly hard. But most of all, Will there be any cute boys? (Wink wink)
I just hope my college experience is as good as I imagined it.
~~~~~
The ending credits of the movie played. Everyone sat up with tired eyes, stretching out their arms. It was approximately 11 Pm. Multiple groans erupted through the bedroom as my friends tried their best to stand up from their previous napping spots.
"Well. I guess this is it then, huh," Jaeda said.
"We're gonna miss you," Ryan said lamentably. I'm the first to be going away to college. The others start their first semester in September. Lucky asses. I wish i still had a few months more to enjoy my summer, to spend more time with my friends. It's all just coming up so fast.
