S T A Y"Stay here." Justin looked at Catherine who nodded, her body shaking as he got out of the pool and started walking towards the fence where the guy had jumped over. Her eyes were fixed on the water as it was still, feeling like if she moved something bad were to happen.
She couldn't help but think that she lied to herself, that she couldn't get through this. It was one thing to have someone take a picture from outside the house but to see someone sitting on the brach of a tree with a camera pointed at you, she felt like she was being watched. She didn't feel like that before, because the past week there was no one outside of the house which was thanks to the security at the gate. But she knew that if the guy was on the tree, on the property then that meant it wasn't his first time.
"Catherine." Justin yelled from where he was standing, his eyes lingering on her as he continued to yell it out but she wouldn't budge. She wouldn't move. Her eyes hadn't moved from the water and her head was low.
He began to move his feet quickly, his feet touching the grass beneath it until they touched something hard. The camera that the guy had dropped. "Catherine." He yelled once more while he picked up the camera fro the ground, setting it on one of the chairs as he neared the pool.
Getting into the pool, he pulled on her arm and looked at her but she didn't react whatsoever. "Babe, I need you to tell me something." His eyes looked everywhere as he rested his hands on her cheeks and moved her face up to his. "Catherine, what's wrong?" He asked, her eyes finally looking into his and she was going to tell him something, but she couldn't. She didn't know what to say.
"Come on, lets get inside." He grabbed her hand and intertwined it with his, walking her out of the water and making sure to grab the camera back from the chair.
As the two got inside, he closed the door that let outside and double checked to make sure it was locked, just because he knew he now had to take the precaution.
"I'm going to go shower." Was all Catherine told him as she began to walk up the stairs. "Close the curtains." She nodded and soon was out of his sight.
It didn't take him long to turn on the camera and see the photos of him and Catherine in the pool, which infuriated him because this was something that never been done.
He's had drones fly near the property and helicopters, but never had a person be on his property watching from a tree. "Jus, baby?" He looked up to see his mom standing in front of him with a concerned look. "Scooter says you won't answer the phone but that he's only a few minutes away so that you can get ready. You didn't forget that we all agreed to go to dinner tonight. Right?"
"I did, sorry. Something happened and I don't want any one of us to leave tonight. I need you to make sure that all the curtains in every room are closed. I'm going to lock all the doors except the front door, and make sure Luna still isn't in the backyard." His mom didn't question him, her eyes focused on the camera that Justin had thrown on the couch whilst they were talking.
With her head underneath the lukewarm water, Catherine had her mind elsewhere. Mostly on the fact that she knew she couldn't stay with Justin. It hurt her to think that, but it was the truth that she had to face because she no longer felt safe even when he was around. She was his anchor, and the only person who was keeping him from hitting his breaking point so if she told him, she knew that it would make things worse for the two than they already were.
"Mama?" Her mom knocked on the door, Catherine realizing that she had been in the shower for what seemed like an hour. "Come in." She barely spoke, her mom doing so and sitting on the toilet with Luna in her arm. "What happen?"
"I came home from work because I just wanted to spend time with him. All week I have been at the studio and we've barely seen each other except when I came back here. I thought it'd be nice to come so we could go to the pool, relax, and just talk about things. We were, you know, kissing and he pulled away from me while he looked up at the tree. I looked over and there was a fucking guy sitting on it with his camera. He was watching us ma, I couldn't even react because of how unsafe I felt. I don't know what —"
The tears were running down her eyes as she rambled on, the shower now being turned off by her mom who'd put Luna down and knew she had to calm down Catherine.
"Come on." She instructed, grabbing the towel from the hook and giving it to Catherine. "You're going to change into something comfortable and stay here with Luna. Justin, Pattie, and some other people are downstairs discussing what happened so I'm just going to tell Pattie that you're just in shock. Is that ok?"Catherine nodded, taking a deep breath in and stepping out of the shower. "I can't stay with Justin." She shook her head, the tears still continuing to fall down her cheeks.
