Again. Moving towns. Transfering schools. Again. Running. Starting a new life. Again. Because of that son of a bitch. He has no right to control my life like this. Why do I have to run because of him? You just answered your own question dumbass. Because of him. It's all because of him.

Suddenly I hear a knock on my door.

"Hey honey. Did you pack all your stuff?"

"No, mom. Not yet."

She sat down on my bed.

"I'm sorry we have to do this. I wish there was another way."

"It's not your fault."

She always finds a way to blame herself for everything.

"I know... I just hate to see you hurt."

"I'm not hurt. I'm fine. It's going to be fun. You know, meeting new people. New friends."

Ha-ha. Nice joke Alex.

"I'm glad you are being positive about this. It's really making things easier for you and me both."

Well that's all that matters. Making this terrible experience as easy as possible.

"The moving truck is coming in two hours. Be ready when it comes."

I nodded and she kissed me on the cheek.

Two hours went by very quickly. It was time to leave. Leave my entire life behind.

I already said goodbye to all my friends. Probably the hardest thing I ever had to do.

As I was sitting in the car, I was thinking about my new school. Am I going to fit in? Or am I going to be the weirdo who doesn't wanna fit in and wear a grey beanie like Jughead? Only time will tell.

..........................

The next day

"Have fun at your first day at school!"

"That is the plan, mother."

I just hope this is not one of those small town school where everyone knows everyone and the new kid gets noticed in first five minutes. Although, to be fair, this is a small town. Great. Go positivity!

I walked into school trying to be as invisible as possible. Spoiler alert: it didn't work.

Everyone was staring at me. Okay, I may be overegsaturating a little bit. Two girls looked at me. I'm making this more of a nightmare than it has to be. Focus, Alex, focus!

Suddenly, the worst thing possible happened. I bumped into someone. So much for being unnoticed, you asshole.

"Shit, sorry I wasn't looking where I was going." I raised my head and looked at the person who I bumped into.

He was about 15cm taller than me. He had black hair and the bluest eyes I have ever seen. Is bluest a word?

"It's fine." He smiled at me and continued walking. I watched him walk away in the distance. Is that wired?

I just had the strangest feeling in my stomach. What the hell? Okay, I don't have time for this now. I'm gonna be late my first day at school. What is my first class? Biology. Where the fuck is biology?

After wondering around the school for about 10 minutes, I finally found where biology is. I sat on only table that was empty. If I'm lucky maybe I won't even have to share the table with anyone!

Of course, we are still talking about me, so naturally, I'm not that lucky. Some guy came and sat next to me. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse the guy decided to let me know about his existence, and said:

"Hey "

"Hey." I said back

"I don't think I've seen you around before?"

"Oh well, I wasn't around before, I just moved here."

"Oh that makes sense. I'm Ian."

He offered his hand

"Alex." I said as I shook his hand.

"Alright class! Will start by introducing our new student." The teacher said looking at me.

Oh shit.

"Alex, why don't you stand up and tell us a little bit about yourself."

"Sure."

I stood up. I was in the back row so I didn't have to turn around to face the rest of the student. They were all facing me.

"My name is Alexander Matthews. I just moved here with my mom. I have no siblings. I like to play guitar and I don't do sports."

"Great." The teacher said.

I sat down. Damnit Alex why did you have to say you don't do sports. Now everyone is gonna think I'm just some nerd.

"Alright everyone before we start, please sit with your partners you are gonna need to pair up for the next assignment."

"Hey, I don't know anyone else here, will you be my partner?" I asked Ian

"Sorry man, I already have a partner. But I have just the right person for you. Jacks!"

He called someone's name before I could react.

The person started walking over to us and as he got closer I recognized him.

Oh. My. God.

It was the guy who I bumped into earlier. This is going to be awkward.

"Jackson, this is Alex, Alex this is Jackson."

"It's very nice to meet you." Jackson said.

"You too."

Awkward silence.

"Well. I'm gonna go now. You two get to know each other." Ian said

No. No. No. Don't leave. Annnnnd he left.

"I'm so sorry for bumping into you earlier."

"I am going to try to find place in my heart to forgive you." He smiled

There it was. That smile again. There was something beautiful about it.

"So how come you don't have a partner?"

"Oh I prefer working alone. But you see my brother here thinks that just because I don't have a biology partner, I'm a loner and he made it his priority to find me friends and such.

I smiled. Wait, brother?

"Wait, brother?" I said out loud this time.

"Yeah, Ian?"

"Oh! You two are brothers. I thought you were just friends. Though it makes sense. You look a lot alike."

"I know, everyone says that." He smiled. He seems to never stop smiling. It's cute.

"Is he your only sibling?"

"No, I have another brother. He is just 5."

"You are the oldest?"

"Yeah. I'm 17, Ian is 15, and Jake is 5."

"So you are 3rd year?"

"I am."

We continued talking and talking, and didn't even realize how quickly the time went by until we heard the bell ring.

When the class ended I was actually kinda sad to leave...

"So where is you next class?" Jackson asked

"I'm actually not sure... It's physics, but I don't know where it is."

"I'll walk you there. It's on my way anyway."

"Thank you."

"No problem."

And there was that smile again.
That smile will be the death of me.
