Sometimes you bleed to know you're alive

A soft sob escapes her lips,

She sits, knowing she can't escape.

The horror behind her eyes,

Paralyzed with fear.

The words hurt her,

Even if she says they don't!

With every breath,

She thinks 'that should be my last'.

The knife cuts deeper everytime,

Because sometimes you bleed to know you're alive.

The monster inside she tried so hard to shut out.

But because her tears know no drought.

She covers so she does not have to explain,

She hids so she does not have to face,

The hurtful words that they spit.

Because every bit

Is just worse then the last.

Sometimes the scares are battle wounds

Not signs of weakness.

There is no light at the end of the tunnel.

When "belive in yourself"

Makes you want to cry

'Cause you know that you are past

help,

reason,

safety,

a smile.

Sometimes you bleed to know you're alive.

A smile to hid the pain

A laugh to hid the tears

A wink to hid the sobs

A joke to hid the darkness

A sleeve to hid the truth

A knife to hid  all the hurt

Sometimes you bleed to know you're alive.
