Thick smog drafted in the cool morning sky. Dawn transformed the mysterious night into soft morning. The rich smell of pollution loomed over the residents of this one particular city, a smell they have adapted to live with. Not a soul was awake, but of course, there is always one. It rose early, greeting the day with a smile. It ran freely through the quiet neighborhood, its heart pumped and bumped, blooding coursing through the vains. The wonderful city arose, its natives cursing the world of such a short night. The souls lungs heaved, burning ever so slightly. Its legs moved rhythmically, carrying the soul to its desired destination. "Almost..... there..." it panted. Their crisp hazel eyes scannes the familiar area, spotting it's target. Their feet stopped, facing towards a quiet household, the exterior greeting each guest with calm and peace. Its blue paint seeming perfectly placed, as if a painter created the house. The white frame carved in delicate design, it's swirls and patterns setting the tone. The house was two stories tall, its beauty captured perfectly in moments, such as this one. The soul could admire the house for hours, tracing every edge, but the soul could not. It smiled up at the lovely home, their plump lips spread so delicately. Their white teeth shined in the sun, and their skin glowed like a star. They walked up to the white matching door, it curves at the edges ever so gently, you could barely know. "Home," it spoke, a sigh escaping their tired lungs. They gripped on the cold knob and entered the household. Its interior was just as amazing as the exterior, the atmosphere was drowning in wonderful bliss. Picture frames and knickknacks scattered neatly throughout each wall, each with a memory that could be replayed, if you looked at one of them long enough. The soul entered the kitchen, its brown wavy hair, bounced along, trapped in a pony tail. "Good morning," a voice cut the clean quiet air the soul was appreciating. It turned to greet the voice, their smile never faulting, " 'Mornin' Dad," it replied, earning a pat on the head from said father, as he walked by and patted her head. "Out for a run I see?" He yawned, scratching his peach fuzz. She nodded and watched her dad make a pot of coffee. She thought back on the life story he's told her so many times, born and raised in South Korea. His family struggled financially his entire existence, poverty was a label he carried around like a glove. His desperate need of money caused him to do odd jobs, soon meeting his wife. He was delivering chicken to an apartment in the north part of the city, only ever being in the south, he was lost. He ran into a kind women who agreed to aid him. She wore decent clothing, her hair was up in a nice way, he had never seen a woman like her before. To say he was head-over-heels was an understatement. For four years he tried desperately to win her heart, but he already a it, it was just four years of wonderful bliss. They got married, and a year later, a tiny innocent soul was born. They traveled to the united states, in search of a better living style. Her mother and father slowly worked their way up, ending up as a secretary and an office worker for a big company. She smiled, all grown up now, her admiration for he parents grow stronger everytime she thinks about their struggles. "Go on, get ready, school starts in two hours, and you stink." She huffed and stuck her tongue out.

She hopped down the polished wooden stairs, a habit she had since she was two feet tall. Her black and white vans collided with the shiny tiles, a small 'thud' was produced. "Morning Mom!" She greeted as she entered the kitchen once again. She looked at her small statured mother, her wonderful amber brown hair glowed in the morning sun dripping through the window. Her outfit was classy and formal, a style her mom adored. "Good morning Min Jee," her mother greeted back, her once thick accent, growing less and less everyday. Min Jee snaggled a piece of bacon from her mother and kissed her cheek, "Bye mom, I'm off to school!" Her mother waved good bye, her tired and over worked brain barely processing the situation. Her father honked as she exited her home. "Ahh, I'm going!" Min Jee whined and hurried to the car. She sat in the comfortable SUV and glared playfully at her father. "You're too slow!" He laughed. She sighed and shook her head as she put on her seat belt. The clear blue sky followed her on her way to school, a few clouds in the distance. She smiled, watching the outside world go past in a blur. "Your birthday is coming up you know, in three months... are you excited? You're going to be 17," her father announced. He looked over and smiled, his wrinkling eyes showing off his age. "My baby, 17... how times flies." He sighs, his memories of his daughter growing up played in his mind like a movie. She smiled at him, excited for the new opportunities and challenges that await. Her father looked at her, his heart panged with hurt, tears threatening to fall. "When you come home... Your mother and I need to tell you something..... something important.... and we hope you don't hate us." He spoke softly and slowly, unable to bring the courage his daughter will desperately need. "I could never hate you two," Min Jee scoffed and looked back out the window, her mind unaware of the life chaning news that is to come. "I'm hoping so sweety... I'm hoping so.." her father spoke quietly. A big blue and yellow painted building came into view, students were all gathered outside, hanging out before classes start. Min Jee gathered her things as her dad parked his car by the curb. "Remember, no talking to boys." Her father glared, causing her to laugh and shake her head.
