I've checked my phone sixth time in the last minute, but nothings changed. My dad still hasn't responded to any of my messages, yet he managed to open them. I typed a new message asking if he saw my previous messages, as I was about to hit send a thought occurred to me that he didn't want to talk to me rushed through my head, I quickly deleted the message. I sighed as I glanced at the time on my phone, which read 7:42, two more minutes till we get off the bus and start a long day of disrespectful teachers and ignorant students.

"Val" Ethan nudged me softly as he called my name, I slowly turned my attention to him, not the slightest bit interested in what he has to say. He just sat there and smiled at me, I raised an eyebrow before speaking.

"Some people would consider this creepy. I'm one of those people" Instead of responding to my comment he just sat there and continued to smile at me. I stared at him with a blank expression. He was about to say something but the bus doors swung open, I pushed past him and got off the bus not bothering to look back.
I managed to make it through most of my day without strangling someone. In Mr. Alms class we had to capture the expression of our human subjects.

I unlocked my phone with hopes of seeing a notification from my dad, to my surprise I had a new notification. I quickly tapped the notification opening the message, only to see that it was a forwarded message chain that people would send to everyone on their contact list.

"Come on! Val" Ela's voice brought me back to reality. I quickly shoved my phone in my back pocket, then I adjusted the shutter speed of the camera as I positioned myself to take the photo.

"Got it!" I yelled as Ethan, Tarka, and Ela all collapsed to the ground.

"Val these poses are hard to hold and the fact that you keep checking you phone every two second doesn't help" Tarka snarled breathlessly.

"You guys makes it appear as if the poses are complicated" I paused as I demonstrated one of the poses "We do these as warm up exercise for track."

"Not all of us can bend like you." Ela shot back.

I rolled my eyes and turned my attention to Ethan. "I'm guessing it's your turn to give your input." Ethan didn't bother to reply instead he shrugged his shoulders.

"Look, we needed something for our project and you guys didn't give me any input on what you wanted to do." I sighed in frustration "I'll try and find easier poses and-"

Tarka cut me off before I could finish "What YOU need to do is get off your phone and actually pay attention, then maybe this would be less painful and we could actually get done with this project early so you can work on editing the photos before the deadline."

I slowly nodded my head to show that I understood. I glanced over at Ethan, who looked as if asking me if I'm ok. I give him a half hearted smile as I turned around, and placed the camera down on the picnic table.
I began to look around in search of another place to take pictures, I saw a blur just as I was tackled to the ground. In fear of hitting the ground I clung to the person that tackled me. I slowly opened my eyes expecting to see my limbs broken, but instead of seeing broken body parts I saw Ethan hovering above me. We both just stared at each other without saying a word, our staring contest was interrupted by Tarka and Ela's laughter.

I heard a person screaming, but the scream kept replaying and each time they'd laugh harder. Then it dawned on me the person that was screaming was me, Ela and Tarka recorded what just happened.

All in one motion I managed to get from beneath Ethan and on my feet. I guess he was surprised that I could move that swiftly because he was looking at me with wide eyes, I simply shrugged and proceeded over towards Ela and Tarka.

"Delete it! Delete it, now!" I demanded.

Ela and Tarka both looked at each other then back at me, they both had a mischievous smirk on their faces. "Delete what?" Ela questioned.

"Don't play dumb with me Ela. That video, delete it!"

"I'd like to reassure you that I'm not playing dumb." Ela rebutted

"Val, I hope that you're well aware of the fact that Ela has multiple videos on her phone. Try and be more specific." Tarka added.

I rolled my eyes and attempted to grab Ela, she slipped through my fingers and threw her phone over to Tarka who proceeds to throw it to Ethan. I ran toward the three and back following the direction of the phone until I just gave up.

"I'M DONE PLAYING MONKEY IN THE MIDDLE. SCREW THIS!" I grabbed the camera and stormed off. I could hear them laughing behind me which only seemed to annoy me more.

I managed to make it back to class, to find Mr. Alms flirting with Ms. Dickson, I rolled my eyes in disgust at the fact that they were so caught up that they didn't even notice me walk in. I sat down in the back of the empty class and began to edit the photographs for our project. The entire editing process usually takes an hour but I managed to finish in thirty minutes, leaving me with fifteen minutes left in the class period. I looked over at Mr. Alms who was still unsuccessfully flirting with Ms. Dickson. I gathered up my stuff and slipped out the room.

I managed to make it to the bus without having to talk to anyone, I sat in my seat and stared out the window. Buzzz I looked at my phone to see a text message from my dad.
"I'm busy right now I'll get back to you when I can."

I blankly stared at the text message, it's not like I was expecting anything different. I put my earbuds in and hit shuffle on my depresso expresso playlist. I'm use to being pushed to the side by my dad I was just hoping that he'd remember what day was coming up
