Mum crumpled, tears streaming down her face. I rushed to her and rapped her in the biggest bear hug I could manage. She didn’t mean it I said, she didn’t mean it. When your about to go of to boarding school for a term and the last time you see your mum is when she’s sobbing into your arms it breaks your heart. “Look after her, please” sopped mum. I will I whispered her, I promise. I couldn’t stand I let go and ran to the door, pausing and looking back I said “I love you”. As the car sped away my home turned into a blur. Mia was sitting next to me hugging Mr sniffles and looking blackly ahead, I swear I saw a tear trickle down her cheek. It was a long trip, the driver was nice and tried to start conversations but the mood couldn’t be lifted. We were in silence the whole drive, 5 WHOLE hours of silence, including the short break in the middle, still silence. If you don’t count the drivers bad jokes. At last we arrived, it was amazing. “It’s all brick” Mia gasped. Well of course it brick, what else would it be made of, I said to her. She death stared me, I think maybe I shouldn’t have said that. There were girls milling around the grounds, and parents dropping kids off. As I got out of the car, the sweet noise of chatter filled my ears. I was a nice alternative to the constant yelling I have been subjected to over the weeks. As we got out bags from the car a swamp of girls rushed over to introduce themselves. They all seamed nice and friendly, Mia was silent, eyeing them suspiciously. “My name is Cara, what’s yours?” said one, I’m Sophie, I replied and this is my sister Mia. “well it’s very nice to meet you both, I’m actually your roommate fro this term”. Already I could tell she was a lovely person and that we were going to be friends. “Let me help you with your bags” , she offered. No thanks I think I can handle it my self said Mia rudely. “Well ok then” Cara replied a bit taken back. “I’ll show you to your room”
