The apartment had collapsed, a heavy piece of wood had crushed my left leg. I couldn't move and I'd never be found. The smoke was overwhelming. Gunk was coating my throat, I could barely breathe yet I had to find a way out of here. I could see an air vent only five feet away, and that too felt like it would take me five days to get there. But I didn't have that time. I needed help, I needed to get out of here, find a place to rest.
My hoarse breathing was getting louder surely someone would hear me. How long would it be until somebody found me, a day? I needed help now, an hour?
A light came from the other end of the room, yes I was saved, wait no it can't be no! My ears listened intently to hear voices come from oncoming light.
"Over here, yeah I see em' over here quick..."
I close my eyes, pretending to be asleep, but I'm too tired, I can't pretend anymore, my eyes shut, my brain closes and my body limply slumps from the weight of all the ongoings of the day.
