Rama Navami holds great significance in Hindu religion as Lord Rama was born on this auspicious day. Rama Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of the Chaitra month (March-April) in the Hindu calendar and this year it falls on March 25 (08:03 am – 12:55 am). According to the religion, Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of God Vishnu, was born to Ayodhya's King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya to establish righteousness and destroy the evil.
Significance of Rama Navami Puja in Hinduism
Lord Rama was born on NavamiTithi during ShuklaPaksha of Chaitra month of Hindu calendar during Madhyahna period (afternoon time). Hence, Ram Navami holds great importance and performingRama Navami puja helps bring prosperity and peace to the devotees. According to Hindu scriptures, Rama Navami puja should be performed during six Ghatis (approximately 2 hours and 24 minutes) for maximum outcome.
Ram Navami Puja Vidhi:
Place the idol of Lord Rama in your puja room along with Mata Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman.Ensure to perform this puja in noon.Before initiating the puja, pray to Lord Ganesha to remove all the obstacles from the puja.Offer flowers, sweets, tulsi leaves and fruits to Lord Rama.Sprinkle holy water, roli, kumkum and rice on the deities and light the diyas&incense sticks.Now chant the divine mantra – "ShriSitaLakshman Bharat ShatrughnaHanumatSametayaShriRamayaNamah".After this mantra, 108 times chant the Lord Rama mantra – "Om RamayeeNamah".After completing the chanting, do the visarjan of Rama Navami puja by offering flowers to the idols and express gratitude towards Lord Rama for visiting your place.Perform aarti and sing Rama bhajan. Make sure to gather all the family members while performing the aarti.Offer prasad to everyone.
