Ken's blood ran cold as he sat cross legged in the lounge, eating the dinner his maid had prepared and watching the TV.
It was a news story, and the young woman reporter who stood afront a large mansion surrounded by police cars and reporters was talking excitedly about a murder.
"The millionaire Sergius Barry was found dead this morning in his office from what looks like poisoning. Police are currently investigating all staff of the Barry residence and combing through CCTV cameras but so far they have come up with nothing to explain the mysterious death of this man."
"I can't understand why anyone would do it!" A weeping woman exclaimed as the scene changed to her. "He was a generous man, gifting to many charities, and everyone who met him exclaimed what a gentleman he was. It such a tragedy that such a thing would occur to such a man.."
"This is the third death this week alone," the reporter continued as the scene shot back to her "where both suspect and motive seem to be missing. However apart from such unusual circumstances there seems nothing else to link them together."
"Nothing to link them together." Ken grumbled to himself as he flicked his fingers to switch off the tv. "If I hadnt discovered that link none of them would be dead right now. If I had known it would result in Teruko going on a killing rampage.."
I would what? He thought to himself. He reflected back to the time he had been captured by those men. Perhaps was the real problem that he was just too naive?
"Teruko?" He said.
"Yes, honey?" Her voice whisphered immediately in his ear.
"Was it really necessary.. to kill them?"
"Hmm?"
"Mr. Barry and the.."
"Oh yes, absolutely necessary." Teruko replied cooly, then added. "Did you enjoy my handiwork? There's no way they can trace me."
She ended the last comment with a girlish giggle that sounded suspiciously maniacal.
Ken frowned. He really was doing the right thing, helping her like this, wasn't he?
"Killing people isn't something to be proud of.." Ken grumbled.
"Huh?" Teruko was silent for a while so that Ken wondered if he had upset her. When she spoke again her voice had taken on a serious tone.
"Those men are dangerous. Not only to yoy and me, but to the world. They call themselves researchers of scientific anomalies, but actually they are after something much more sinister."
"Sinister?" Ken asked, surprised.
"At first I thought they just wanted to learn about my secrets, find a way to harness or abuse my power, but then I found out that they actually want to put an end to me altogether.
"More than that, I found out that they actually were reaponsible for the 'disappearance' of the scientists who originally transferred me. That whole program was shut down because it was competition to what they were doing."
"Competition?"
"Yeah. Did you know, Ken, there are more like me?"
"More like you?" Ken was surprised. How could there be more like her? If such a thing existed, there was no way their secret could remain hidden, was there?
"That's why I was distracted recently so much. The real foe I was combating wasn't those men with their silly organisation. It was something they've created. Another girl like me. Her name is Black Petal."
