He hasn’t been at school for 3 days, I went over to his house each morning, to ask if he was coming since I’m responsible for driving him around, but each morning, there’s no one. No one comes to the door, not a sound from inside. Dad told me they’re probably just visiting relatives that live around here or something, but I don’t buy it. Something’s up, and I want to no what it is, not that I care.
It’s finally Saturday, which means sleeping in and sleepovers! Kaitlyn’s coming around, and as usual, mums still away on work, and dads got night shifts at the fire department. Ben’s arranged to go to his friends house for the entire weekend, so me and Kaitlyn have the entire house to ourselves. Mind you, the last time we had the house to ourselves, we almost caught fire to the house in our attempt and making dinner. But this time we’ve agreed that the safest option for us is to order take-out.
The door bell echoes through the house, and I make an effort not to trip down the stairs in a hurry to let Kaitlyn in, I have the face-masks ready, and nail polish lined up in my room, tonight will be awesome!
Kaitlyn doesn’t bother waiting for me to get to the door, instead she just walks in.
“Honey I’m home!” Kaitlyn yells through the house as she dumps all her stuff on the couch. That’s another thing I love about Kaitlyn, she’s like the sister I never had!
“You couldn’t wait for me to get the door?” I joke, “Get up here, the facemasks are going hard!”
Her footsteps sprint up the stairs, and I embrace her with a massive hug that could probably slice her in half if I squeezed any harder!
“Shot gun Chocolate!” Dam, she always gets chocolate! We dress into bright pink dressing gowns that go just past out knee caps, and start to smother the stuff on our face. We get a mixture of brown and green sludge all over my desk, but I don’t care! It feels so good!
A hard knocking sound is at the door
“You expecting someone?” Kaitlyn asks, but I honestly have no idea who it could be, then again…
“It’s probably just Alex forgetting his toothbrush or something!”
The door knocks again “Okay Okay I’m coming!”
I place my hand on the cold metal door handle, and turn it… Oh. My. Gosh.
What is he doing here!
“W-W-W-What are y-you doing here?” I ask, remembering have bright green mask across my face, and I’m dressed in a massive pink nightgown!
“Well! What do we have here! I came to tell you ya don’t need to drive me school anymore, my license got given back to me… but by the look’s of things, now's probably not a great time!” I’m going to die of embarrassment, I’m actually a tad grateful for the mast, otherwise my face would be bright red! Of all times, Jake comes over now, NOW!
“O-O-Okay, I-I was just, never mind! Good for you.” Just as I’m about to slam the door in his face, then have a break down, he sticks his foot in the door.
“Mmmm, mint, my favorite!” He slides his finger slowly across my face, then licks his finger and winks and me. Okay this guy is surely mental! I’m lost for words!
He slides is hand down to my waist, and pulls me in close to him, so close I can feel his worm breath on my shoulder. His hands make me feel safe, I have no idea why, the way they wrap around me…
“Get off! No offence, but you’re really not my type!” I say in a panoced tone
“Hunny, that’s a real shame, cause you meet all my criteria, how about a kiss?”
That’s it, if he thinks he can get a kiss out of me his delirious!
“Kaitlyn!! Help!” I yell loudly, and Kaitlyn comes rushing down the stair with a blow drier in her hand ready to swing!
“What’s wrong!” She screams back with a worried look on her face.
“Calm down hunny, we’re just havn’ a little fun!” He says, looking straight into my eyes. His eyes are a deep drown, there so memorizing. But he lets go, and leaves, closing the door behind him.
“Was the Jake Carter!” Kaitlyn says with way too much excitement in her voice.
“Yeah, his my next door neighbor, unfortunately…”
“Oh you poor thing! Although, he is very cute, you to could make a…”
“NEVER, going to happen Kaitlyn!” I cut her of in a serious tone
“Okay, it was just a thought!”
Fantastic, so in one week, Jake’s moved in, I’ve had to give him rides to school, he embarrassed me in front of the entire science class, he's been the first guy to ever hold me around the waist and seen me in a pink night gown with green mask on my face! Tell me this is all one big nightmare…
“Lets just get back to work, we have nails to paint!” I say trying to change the topic.
The rest of the night, we talk about manicures and the new shops that came in the city, until the dinner arrived.
“Come on Livi, you like him!”
“Who?”
“Jake” …she can’t be serious
“Yeah, I like him like cats love dogs, which is not at all!”
“Sometimes cats and dogs get along very well you know Livi, and sometimes they even love each other!” She teases whilst picking up her chop sticks and taking a bite out of her honey chicken.
“Hilarious… I don’t know, his so arrogant, and pig headed! But when he’s near me, I don’t know how to explain it, it’s like, nothing else matters, I can block out the whole world, and there’s only me and him.”
We talk about Jake until we finish eating, then go to bed, since it was almost midnight.
“Livi, what are we doing?” Where did that come from?”
“Trying to sleep?” I joke
“No, I mean, what are we doing with our lives, school’s nearly over, then we’re off to college, and we’ll be responsible for our own lives.”
“It’s just how life is, I guess” I reply, not knowing exactly what I should have said.
“Can I tell you something Livi?”
“Anything”
“I think I like someone, Drake, the quarter back of the football team, we where talking the other day, about college, and our plans…”
“Daym!!! Kaitlyn and the Quarter back!” I laugh before she can finish her sentence.
“I no I no, I probably don’t stand a chance, but it’s worth a shot…right?”
“If anyone’s gotta’ shot, its you Kaitlyn! You’re one of the prettiest girls in senior year!”
“Thanks…night Livi.”
“Night munchkin” I reply.
