I was walking to the park, just enjoying the scenery, trying my hardest to ignore the people staring at me. I took a sip of the starbucks in my hands. We lived in a very abnormal town, we have all the mystical magical things. Ghouls, shadows, vampires, you name it, but all the magical things we had were mostly dark. Like the nightlings, but that's just our town. As I was walking I heard a few kids whisper to their parents.

"That's her? Really?"

"What's that dark thing on her arm?"

Then the parents answered.

"Don't look at her. Ignore her."

"Don't worry about it."

But to answer the children's questions, yes that's me, and this thing? This black mark on my arm? It's the mark of death. Meaning I should have died a long time ago, for some reason I haven't. It's black now, but the day I will die, it'll turn purple. They call me "the one that outlived death" because in our town, when you get this mark, you die in the next two days, I have lived for five so far. For these past couple of days I've had the feeling that someone's been following me, but it was probably just the people watching me. Ever since my friends and family found out that I had the mark, they left. They haven't spoken to me once. It was like they all thought that death was contagious. It's ridiculous, but oh well. I liked being alone anyways. I made it to the park and I sat down on a park bench, when I saw someone standing behind a tree. A male, he had dark brown hair and dark lifeless brown eyes. I also noticed that he had pale skin, like mine. I just looked ahead of me, sipping my starbucks. Then the guy started walking towards me, I ignored him, until he sat down next to me. I looked at him with an eyebrow raised.

"Hello?"

I didn't get answer, instead he just looked at me expressionless. I tilted my head at him.

"Dude, you ok?"

When he didn't answer, I waved my hand in front of his face. When he didn't react I put my hand on my forehead.

"God I must be hallucinating now."

I shook my head with a laugh as I finished my starbucks, looking at the male. When all of a sudden he spoke.

"You can see me?"

I looked at him unamused.

"And you can speak."

I tried to pull off the straight face but I just started giggling.

"And who are you?"

I lifted an eyebrow at the male. He tilted his head at me.

"I'm someone."

"I would've never guessed."

I rolled my eyes as I stood, walking back in the direction where my home was. I decided to take the forest shortcut, I liked the trees, how the leaves rustle in the wind and how the snow glistened in the sun. The fresh snow crunched under my boots as I walked home. I heard someone walking behind me and I turned my head to see the guy from earlier. I just turned my head and I continued walking at a slow pace, taking in my surroundings. I then saw the guy walk next to me, I turned to him.

"What are you doing?"

He didn't answer and I decided to ignore him. I just continued walking, when I reached my doorstep, I unlocked the door and I turned around to stop the male who was going to follow me inside. He was taller than me so I had to look up at him, he was like a head taller than me.

"Bro no, go home."

He lifted one of his eyebrows, then he pushed me to the side and he walked inside. I furrowed my eyebrows as I slowly closed my door. He took his shoes off and he put his jacket on the coat hanger I had next to the door. He then sat down on a barstool that was next to the kitchen island. I took my shoes off and I slowly took my jacket off as I put it on the coat hanger. I then leaned against the kitchen island looking at him in his eyes.

"What are you doing?"

He lifted an eyebrow.

"What does it look like."

"Breaking and entering."

He then rolled his eyes.

"I'm not-"

"You sure about that?"

I lifted an eyebrow at him. He didn't answer and I rolled my eyes. I then walked to my couch, sitting as I put my legs on top of the couches back, taking my phone out of my pant pocket and I just started reading. Then the guy walked to the couch and he sat down, turning to me.

"I'm a grim reaper and I'm here to reap your soul."

I stared at him blankly.

"Well why haven't you done it yet?"

The male sighed as he looked in front of him, at the tv's black, empty screen.

"It seems that your soul isn't ready to move on."

"You sure? Cause I'm more than ready."

He then rolled his eyes.

"Of course I'm sure."

"So, what's holding my soul back?"

He then looked at me tilting his head.

"Do you have any dreams? Goals?"

"Not any I can remember."

"Well this might be harder for me.."

"How so?"

"If I don't manage to reap your soul, I'll become human and once I die again, it's over."

"Pfft, please, that's a lie."

When he lifted an eyebrow, I laughed a bit.

"Please tell me no one believed that shitty lie."

"Sadly, you'd be surprised."

I laughed as I turned my phone off.

"So, how will this really be harder for you."

"It has never taken me this long to reap a soul."

"Aw, so your frustrated?"

He shot me a mean glare and I laughed. He rolled his eyes.

"Ella this isn't funny."

"Oh shit you know my name. Actually wait that's common sense, of course you know my name."

I looked at the ceiling furrowing my eyebrows. I then looked back at him.

"What's your name?"

"Just call me reaper."

"That's bullshit, tell me your real name."

I rolled my eyes scoffing. He lifted an eyebrow at me, then he took out a phone, sighing he went on it.

"You have a phone?"

He shot me a side glance.

"You have eyes?"

"You have a brain?"

He then shot me a glare as I laughed. I then shut my phone off, closing my eyes. I was trying to sleep when I felt someone's fingers graze the mark on my arm. I snapped my eyes open and I saw the male looking at my mark intently. He then made eye contact with me as he slowly sat away.

"What was that."

"What was what."

"Why did you touch it."

"Touch what."

"The mark."

"What mark."

"Oh for goodness sake why did you touch the death mark on my arm?!"

He was silent, then he just went back to his phone. I rolled my eyes as I just closed them again, falling asleep this time.
