Banshee

His eyes hadn't left her since she walked in the room. He felt the pull but knew who and what she was and it caused him to hesitate. Banshee knew what the mate bond was, but it was so rare since the split of the community that he had been convinced it was an ancient myth and not something that happened in the current times.

Then there was Jewel. His Jewel. The one he has loved longer than he can remember. Banshee's love for Jewel didn't diminish when she walked down those steps, but now, there was something else tugging him, urging him to know this woman, to be with her. Every breath he took threatened to call out to her in a mate declaration that would no doubt cause a large fuss.

That's when he remembered his purpose for dressing up to come to such a party. His wolf whined from within and he knew that he would have to choose his Community over and feeling he may be having, besides, Jewel was more important to him than some Bird Soul.

Still, he didn't move. He watched her walk from across the room as she clung to her guard tightly as he pushed them through the crowd of Animal Souls flocking to them. He watched them break through and flee to the dance floor where he watched her visibly calm in her partner's arms.

Banshee forced his anger back, his primal instincts threatening to surface despite his wishes. He forced his eyes away from the pair to look at the other Souls in attendance. They all stood apprehensively as they watched the dancers, unsure of what to do. Every Soul was in this state, except, for the Feline Soul who looked in her element.

Banshee growled to himself at the pompous looks of the Cat and Birds and began to tug at his tie that felt more like a collar he had been wrangled into by Poppy. She had even attempted to force shoes on him but the Canine Souls knew that if it came down to it he would fight better if he didn't have to wear them.

The song ended and Banshee glanced around to see the woman make her way to the wall on the opposite side of the room. Without much thought he began to analyze her large eyes and small frame. Her dark hair was pulled up into a braided bun with ringlets hanging around her face and her dress was a sight to behold that's for sure. While Banshee normally found the Bird and Cat dresses to be showy, her seemed to make her shine in ways he had never thought possible.

Banshee's mind wanted him to come up with a plan to steal the girl for his community, his heart wanted him to leave and go kiss Jewel whom he loved, and his wolf begged him to go be with his Soul's mate. Banshee crossed his arms over his chest, attempting to contain himself when she looked up and met his eyes.

They froze, not looking away as Banshee's wolf howled in ecstasy. Banshee's jaw clenched as they watched one another. He could see her eyes widen to their impossibly large size and noticed her hands begin to fidget in a sign or nervousness.

Banshee was a wolf at heart and knew the signs of a prey feeling cornered and his dear mate was most certainly giving off those vibes as he watched her realize who he was and knew she knew his purpose. This is when his mind pushed forward through his other inner cries and a plan formed.

He let his eyes rake over her once more before he pushed himself forward and began to approach her. He weaved his way through the crowd and was half way to her when he noticed the dangerously angry looks her guard was shooting him and any other guard who threatened to get close to his charge, but that didn't stop Banshee.

The young Wolf Soul didn't stop until he was standing before her and she was looking up at him with a guarded expression, not daring to reveal anything she may be feeling to him. His wolf let out an annoyed huff but Banshee ignored it as he watched her, stopping a few feet away and lacing his hands behind his back to hide their shake as he fought his wolf.
