The Truth... or More lies?

Normal POV

"It's Conan-kun..." Shinichi started before then paused again.

"Conan-kun? why does he have anything to do with this?" Kazuha asked.

"Well... I didn't lie about many cases that I'm working on, but there's a reason why I can't come back yet. The reason why I can't stay in a place for too long. And the reason is Conan-kun..." Shinichi said, taking a deep breath before he started.

"-Ran, you do remember back when we went to the Tropical land?" -She nodded.

"Well yeah, There was another case happened, and that's why I left you. But anyway, what matter is what happened next after I came home. the day when I first met him..." he said.

"that kid, I found him in front of my house with a head injury, barely conscious."

"What? What happened?" Kazuha asked in worry and it was obvious that Ran did too. All the while Heiji looked clueless but decided to stay silent this time.

"I can't tell you, he'll be more upset than he already was..." Shinichi said shooking his head, "But anyway, seeing that I did what crossed my mind firsthand, I take him to my house and treated his wound. That is when he told me what happened..."

"In short, he told me that his parents were in trouble, or specifically his father did...

His father was taken away for his intelligence. And they almost take him to, knowing how smart he is. But overall, he managed to escape. And that is when he decided to come to me, a famous teenage detective of the east." He said, but there's no longer cocky tone in his voice at the mention of his title.

"He asked me for a request and I accepted. That is when Agasa-Hakase decided to walk in. He helped us with the kid's new identity. He agreed to goes with Edogawa Conan as his name since he's coincidentally also a fan of Sherlock Holmes.

Well, it didn't take too long for us to realize that he's similar to me by not just appearance but the way I acted. When he was asked, he said that he idolized me so much and want to become a famous detective in the future. Of course, I don't mind... and to be honest, I think it's cute..." Shinichi said with a sheepish grin and a slight blush.

"I don't get it. If he asked for you for protection, why did you leave?" Kazuha asked.

"He didn't ask me for protection.

What he asked was for me to help his parents... and so far I've got his mother, Edogawa Fumiyo out of their suspicion. but just in case I told her not to stay at America. As for his father, I have too little clues even after all this time." He hummed, with hand on his chin, looking serious before then he snapped back.

"But anyway, The only to do this without raising any suspicion or even worse getting him and myself in danger, is to stay undercover... and that is why..."

"That is why you left..." Ran finished, and Shinichi relucantly nodded.

"Why can't Heiji help?" Kazuha asked, giving a pointed look at the said boy.

"Hey! I did help him!" Heiji said, feeling offended.

"And yes, he did. He's done too much, But as I were saying, It's better for you not to get involved too far, that way It's easier for me to slip away if things getting out of hands."

"I see... does that means, you're going to leave again, Shinichi...?" Ran asked in a very low tone but still, he heard her.

"Unfrotunately, yes. And just like before, I don't know when I'll be back, so I trully understand if you want to breaking up with me. Afterall, it's so unfair to you... I'll try to move on as well..." Shinichi said as he stood up, smiling with much effort.

"Shinichi no BAKA!" Ran abruptly stood up with hands boh clenched on her sides. "I dare you to say that one more time..."

"Ran..." Shinichi freezed at the sight of those tears falling from her eyes. His chest stung and there's a lump on his throat, he can't speak.

"Shinichi..." Ran called again before then she hugged him, making the two Osakan to googled their eyes.

"I don't care if this will take you for another five, ten, or even more years. I will wait for you. So, don't you dare to move on from me, damnit!" she shouted, tightening her grip, both in revenge of his words and to tell him that she mean it.

"R-Ran..."

-However, before Shinichi got to speak more his phone rang and he grumped for that.

"Looks like my time is up..." He said lowly as he loosen up the hug.

"Wow, such a way to ruin the mood, Kudou..." Heiji snickered. Shinichi just gave him an unimpressed look but ignored the Osakan as he turned to Ran who's obviously looking dissapointed.

"Gomen Ran... But I really have to leave now..." Shinichi saidappologatically.

"alright then. Just... Just don't forget of my words, okay..." She said, blushing.

Shinichi smiled warmly as he erased those tear from her cheek, "you have my words, Ran... So, take care of yourself...?"

"Heh, I should be the one who said so... trouble magnet..." she said, letting her blush getting even brighter instead of sending her kicks to his face which s getting closer... and even closer...

Yet before anything could happen, he stopped him self, taking a step back as he chuckled sheepishly, "Well then, I guess this is it... I'm counting you to keep Conan-kun safe, okay? See you guys other time!" -he wore back his hoodie before then he dashed out of the agency and blend into the night...

"Oh well, It seems like he's not ready yet for a kiss then..."
