The Current Me [Detective Conan]

Conan POV

Putting the transmitter down, I lied down on my futon smiling with mixed feelings in my heart. I feel guilty but at the same time relief...

"Heh, aren't you the lucky one to have her, Tantei-kun?" -I don't need to open my eyes or even turned my head to know who it was. still, I smiled.

"Yeah, you can even say that she's the best luck I have..." and as I glanced to my side I saw him having this look while sitting on the window.

"Kami... this must be hard for you. You're okay?" he asked.

"You, for all people knows how it must feel, living two lives I mean..." and he smiled.

"Yes I do, and that's why I asked."

I hummed, "I'm okay, I guess... well, Conan is okay. Shinichi...? not so much." I told him in all honesty.

"Ouch, man... why did you divide yourself like that? that'll only hurt you, y'know" he frowned.

"Well, unlike you KID, I can't be two people at the same time. at least not at my own will, so I feel that it's just a must..." I shrugged dejectedly

"Hey... I think you need to talk about this, pal. You're breaking down..." He said, more concerned by the sound. Yet I just chuckled half-heartedly.

"With whom? you? No thanks... I don't spill secrets with thieves..." I said jokingly.

"Now, you wounded me, Tantei-kun..." He faked hurt but then grinned. "Jaa~ what about talking with a long distance relative?" 

"Huh?" is my smart answer.

But then, before I could register what's this trickster up to, smoke already surrounded his figure, as not so long after, in his place, there stood a teen looked much like my-Shinichi-self except for the hair, wearing casual attire and a wide grin.

"W-What are you...?" -yet, he only stepped closer before then extended his hand as he said.

"The name is Kuroba Kaito, a magician extraordinare~!" He introduced himself as I stared, before then gazing down with annoy.

"why? why did you this? why revealing yourself?" I almost shouted but refrained, it'll be bad if anyone come upstairs and saw this. It'll raise questions...

But even so, I can't help but mad and slightly dissapointed. I mean, I've told myself not to discover him outside the heists and with my own power. Yet, here he is, out of nowhere, revealing himself all carefreely... Is he mocking my ability or what?

"-Well, if anything I assure you that I'm not, Shinichi." He said, with a kind tone and with my real name, shocking me a bit. 

But even after I recovered, I just let him continue...

"I never had any intention to insult you or anything. You're my best critics and I'll be dead if I ever underestimated you. Far too many times you've proven me what you're capable of. And to be honest, I never thought that this day will come, where I revealed myself to someone else than my assistant..." he said, in scratching his face in a sheepish manner before then composed himself as I asked, "Then why?" -this time, I saw him smiling much sincerely.

"Because when I saw you... I saw myself." He said straightforwardly and I blinked.

"I know, I know, that sounds weird..."

"-And creepy" I added, but relaxed as the tension lifted.

He pouted, "Well, okay, creepy, I admit. But true... There are times where I break down too, but then I remember that you have it rougher than me. And truly, I'm amazed at how you keep it together all this time. With all of those man in black chasing over your back, while having your own personal problem too..." -and the grin return. "So, again! if anything, you've inspired me in some ways~! and I just want to return you the favor and help. Now, it's not good to decline any offer right?" he taunted and I rolled my eyes.

"Even if I declined, I'm sure you'll stalk me anyway, so why bother?" and he laughed.

"Wow, that's Meitantei for you~ knowing my intent already..." I rolled my eyes again but this time I followed with the laughter.

"But anyway, won't it be too much of coincidence if I know someone so far too similar to 'Shinichi'? Ran will immediately see that tonight is my work..." I said and he hummed.

"You got the point there. It'll be awkward..." -I nodded.

"Well, then! we just have to make our meeting official~!" he cripped.

"and how exactly you're planning to do that?" -But he just winked as he said, "Oh, leave that matter to me~" Then with a snap of the finger, a yellow rose plopped in front of me.

I shook my head but nevertheless accepted while murmuring magicians... 

"alright then, but you better not to humiliate me or I'll make sure not to miss my aim at your next heist" I smirked evilly while he shuddered.

"never mess with your sadistic side... I got it." He noted and I nodded in satisfaction.

"well then, Conan-kun, It far passes your bedtime, and I shall get going before Tantei-han, or what worse your GF caught me here..." He said, changing back to his KID attire.

"Saa~ Tantei-kun, See you in my next illusion~!" He winked before then with another smoke he disappeared.

Well, not truly disappeared. But, for this time only, I won't pry to know... some mysteries were better-left remain.

"Maa... then I guess, it's time for Conan to sleep..." and so, I crept into my futon and relaxed my body as well close my eyes.

'I can't wait for our next meeting... I could already that it's going to be awesome...' and with that thought in mind, I slowly drifted into the dreamland...
