She doesn't want to have this fighthere or right now – or anywhere else or ever for that matter. Butthat doesn't seem to be an option, as he's already pretty much intoit. And they haven't even really started to argue yet, but somehowher opening her mouth to say something to him, after wistfully takingin her surroundings, told him exactly where her thoughts had been. It's also pretty clear that he doesn't want them to be anywhere nearthere. This is her life though, and if she decides she wants torejoin the Serpents, then he doesn't get to have a say in that. It'snot like he's the leader of said gang, so how's he in any way allowedto forbid her that?!
They hadn't even actually set foot intothe Whyte Wyrm when a strong feeling of nostalgia had hit her andshe'd know without a doubt, that this is where she belonged; thatthis is probably where she had belonged for the last twenty years, that no matter how much she wanted to leave this place when she hadbeen a teenager, this was her home and it had never actually left *her *. The decision had made itself then. Without conscious thoughtshe had found herself picturing herself walking in there with her oldserpent jacket, head high, hips swaying and that gleam in her eyesthat had always been there when she'd been younger. And that smugattitude that had gotten her into trouble way more often that evenshe would like to admit.
Then they had walked inside and hereyes had taken in everything around her and everything had beendifferent in the way that she hasn't sat foot in here for twodecades, and everything still looked exactly the same as the lasttime she'd been in here. There were people she recognized, some shehad called friends back in the day, some she'd only been acquaintedwith. There were people she didn't know. There were teenagers she'dnever seen before but could place them into the right family withouteven trying; others she had no idea. There were also people missing. She's felt familiar enough, that she had stopped in the middle of theroom, eyes resting on her from all around the bar, and when he turnedaround because their joined hands had reached its limit, she knew hecould tell exactly what she's thinking. She'd also seen the flash inhis eyes that told her this would not be an easy conversation to beheld and would most likely end up in their first fight. She'dactually hoped they'd have * that * over something else.
"No" He says before she can evenfind the words to say what's on her mind. He turns then, tugs attheir joined hands to get her moving, but she won't budge. This isstill not his decision, and no matter how much she loves him, heneeds to understand that.
"You have no idea what I was going tosay" She tries the easy way, tries to evade the topic. She doesn'thave to join the Serpents right now, they can have this confrontationlater at home – or at least in the back where she knows he has anoffice located. He's still holding her hand, has taken the other onein his, too. Maybe this isn't going to end as bad as she thinks itwill.
"You were going to say you want torejoin, and that I don't have a say in this" Shit, he still knowsher way too good. It's the one thing that had bothered her before, hat she couldn't hide anything from him. He's been able to read herlike a book from the very first day they'd met when they were six. That doesn't seem to have changed at all, and it's just that bitfrustrating, after spending twenty years with a mask in place no onewas able to penetrate unless she let them.
"So what if I was?" She huffs witha shrug of her shoulders. She should be making adult choices here, arguing with logic and reason that it * really * wasn't his decision, but under his gaze she feels a bit like a kid getting told they'renot getting the shiny new toy for Christmas. Fussing and crying aboutit won't change it. "You can't really stop me" She knows it's thechildish thing to do.
