Affection and Dejection

Dejection
Together
We can only live
Wishing for what could have been
We do not spend time
Together, and when time passes
We will come
Apart
We couldn't last, not
Us forever
It was the beginning of
You and I as different beings
It was the slow end of
Love
And in its place raised
A seemingly impervious barrier between us
You broke
A promise with one word
As your hand rested on my palm, you handed
It back to me.
The world was yours, and you gave
Up on me, and as time passed, I saw
The way you'd never give
Your sincere smiles and your lasting love
I never wanted anything so much as you.
I loved you.
But when I looked into your  radiant eyes
It is futile to think we could ever become one.
My senses were calling. I thought
I could let go of my past, my fears, my regrets.
I knew you had to be mine.
But when I saw you standing in the azure fields
I felt ready to give it all up.
Affection

This time, read the poem from the bottom to the top.
