Nirvana
(in Buddhism) a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth. It represents the final goal of Buddhism.

This is the definition of nirvana. Now this quote is quite broad. It covers a wide variety of what heaven should be. In this book what will be covered are religious experiences and other methods of attempting to reach this higher level of life.
