Emma
I parked my car into my spot in front of the hospital and then I started applying some mascara and lipstick. I hopped out of the car and walked all the way to my office where I had my full schedule displayed on the wall. Someone started knocking, "Come in" I called out. Doctor John came in and gave me a quick hug "Good morning Emma. I have to leave now. I'm really sorry," "but what?!" I interrupted. "Just let me finish talking please! My wife is in labour and I have to go. There's a new patient that's going to be transferred to you until I get back," said john. "Ugh god! okay fine oh and congratulations" I shouted out as doctor John rushed out of my office.
Doctor John is one of the best chemo oncologists in london and I happen to be replacing him for now. I took off my jacket and replaced it with my white coat and then I opened the windows to let the refreshing air fill up the room. I checked my phone for any messages and I found one from doctor John that was sent 3 minutes ago "The appointment is on 8:30 since you're always free until 9:30. Ask the receptionist for the needed information. Thank you so much and good luck".
After calling the receptionist, I received all the information about my new patient. Name:Jane. Age:5 years old. Nationality: Swedish. There was a 75 possibility that she was diagnosed with leukemia and after reading through the blood test results and the symptoms and going over the images displayed, I was 100% positive that she has leukemia. This is the hardest part of my job- telling the parents that their child might or might not live like a normal child.
I was lost in thought when Nina, the nurse, came in with a little cute girl followed by a very handsome man. Well well. We shaked hands and then we sat down. "Good morning. My name is Emma and I'll be replacing doctor John for a while," I said with a smile on my face. "I'm William, Jane's father," he replied softly. "Hello sweetie," I looked over at Jane who was biting down her nails and was on the verge of crying. I reached out to my purse and took out a piece of chocolate and offered it to Jane. "Thank you doctor. I like her daddy," I smiled at jane and I knew from that moment that if I get too attached, I'll go through some emotional pain.
