That monday everything felt like normal. Sarah woke up, got ready, walked to school, attended her classes and then joined her friends at lunch. If she had to stereotype her group of friends, they'd be the "middle-popular group", the sort of people who weren't unknown but not on the top of the popularity chain. They knew of everyone but people didn't die to talk to them. Personally, she loved being in her position because she felt very down to earth.
"Sar? You listening?" Arya snapped her fingers in front of Sarah's face and cocked her head sideways. Arya's wavy, black hair wasn't made into braids as they usually were and her narrow eyes gazed at her with annoyance.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about something." Sarah smiled and straightened her back. "What were you saying?"
"That you're the worst listener in the entire world." Arya took a bite from her food and stared at her. "Seriously, you always listen. What is it?"
"It's nothing."
"Oh my god, you're thinking about Gab–" Before Arya could finish, Sarah pressed her hand against her mouth and widened her eyes to shut her up. "–riel." She finished in a mumble.
"I just... It's weird. And I just wanna know if he remembers or not. That's all." Sarah shrugged.
"I think you're about to find out." Arya whispered and pressed her lips together. Sarah had no time to react to Gabriel joining her side by the table and looking at her with that slug, annoyingly gorgeous expression of his. She mentally shrugged it off and returned the gaze, waiting for him to speak up.
"What's up, Sahara?" He smirked and ate from his apple. She blinked at him and cleared her throat.
"My name's not Sahara."
"You sure?" He partly joked, tilting his head to the side and feigning confusion.
"Positive." She lowered her head and played with her food. Arya faked a cough and then left the table as if that would make it less tense.
"That was subtle." He chuckled and glanced at the remaining ones by the table who hadn't even noticed him since they were so occupied with each other. "Look, I just wanna apologize for being such a bother the other night."
"It's fine, really. I'm just glad you got home safely." She meant it. On some level she was glad he came to her house because she'd rather have to wake up in the middle of the night than reading about a missing student or worse the next morning.
"I'd say I'm sorry about that kiss but honestly, it was a really good kiss." He then added, looking forward with that stupid smile. Sarah licked her lips and grew a sly smile herself because he's had his fun and now it was her turn.
"Really?" Sarah smoothly moved closer to him and carefully placed a hand on his leg, her head slightly to the side. Gabriel froze and turned to look at her, only to swallow a lump in his throat when his eyes met hers. Sarah was the type of girl who had a very plump and cute face while at he same having the potential to look really, really alluring and sexy — especially if she used the right make up style. She flicked her hair behind her shoulder and rested her lips just an inch away from his ear. "Because it's the first and only one you'll get."
Gabriel's eyes were stuck on Sarah as she got up from her seat and left the cafeteria. He then shook his head over himself and quickly caught up with her by the time she was in the hallway. A soft grip on her wrist made her turn around, only to be pulled into an empty classroom. Gabriel pressed his lips against hers and with a grin on her face, Sarah locked the door just in case. Then she wrapped her arms around his neck and let him deepen the kiss.
This time, his breath didn't reek of alcohol and this time it wasn't as sloppy. No, this time he was holding her hips firmly and kissing her like they were lovers who hadn't seen each other in weeks. Then he abruptly ended it, making it seem like she was reaching for more when her face remained close to his, and caressed her bottom lip with his thumb.
