RWBY: Light From The Shadows

Introduction

"Yawn," I said as I stretched my arms up in the air. I slowly raised myself off of my bed and grabbed my red hooded cloak which was lying on top of my duvet cover.

I rubbed my eyes, I had spent the whole night trying to study for the pre-pre exams that I was going to have. Today! I almost forgot! I quickly jumped out of my bed and immediately looked for a clock. When I found one I quickly began to panic it was 8.35 and the first exam begain at 9 am exactly!

I looked around the room and saw that Weiss, Blake and Yang had already left without me. "Why me?" I complained but no one heard me. I quickly got my things together, got changed and had breakfast... Ok maybe I didn't have breakfast. I mean how could I when it's? I walk over to the clock again. 8.55! "I'm going to be late." I quickly left our dorm room and with my red clock flying in the wind behind me I ran to class.

I bursted though the door and glanced at the clock at the back of the room.8.59. I made it! I breathed a heavy sigh of relief. I walked on over to where my team was sitting. I could tell Weiss was not happy with me. I took my seat and let out another sigh just before Weiss said, "what is with your tardiness? If we had waited for you we wouldn't of been able to get here in time!" My mind began to drift and I couldn't hear what Weiss was saying. I looked around, and noticed that Professor Port wasn't handing out test papers or even in the room altogether. When my sub-consciousness was switched off I turned to Weiss and said, "don't we have a exam today?" Weiss looked at me with a face that said, 'did you not listen to what I was just talking about!' She then said in clear voice, "the examination was cancelled."

I stared at her in disbelief at first, but when it sank in I jumped in the air in excitement. "Wait, hold on." I said as the realisation hit me. I sat back down. "So I studied for no reason!" This time Weiss sighed, "No," she said, "we are still having our examinations. The problem was that the examinations hall is being used this week and our examinations clash with the schools festival. Our examinations have been moved to next week." I smiled, no exams for another week and there's a festival as well. I looked at my team and said, "I've decided! This weeks mission is to have fun and enjoy the festival and forget about exams!" Yang stood up and shouted, "Hell yeah! That's right little sis we are going to have a blast!" Weiss was about to protest agensted the idea ( I know this because the aura I felt from her felt like it wanted me dead for coming up with the idea), but she was stopped by professor Ozpin walking into our classroom. Everyone in the class stopped talking and looked at him.

It was weird to see professor Ozpin (the headmaster) visit classrooms during the school day. He made his way to Professor Ports' desk. Once he had reached it he turned and faced us. " I have come here today..." He said, " to tell you that a new student shall be joining this class." At that moment everyone started whispering. It was really weird for a new student to enter the school at this time. Transfer students normal came at the beginning of the new terms, so they can form a team with the other transfers. It's strange for just one student to join the class... My train of thought was stopped by Professor Ozpin as he continued his speech. "She shall only be here on a temporary basics, therefore I wish you all to treat her well. For today she will join you during this lesson as a one off. For tomorrow though she will be having normal lessons, so she will need someone to help her with finding her way around the school as it is very complex building and if you don't know your way around than your bound to get lost." He looked towards me. "What?" I said, "it was only once... Ok twice, four times max." He ignored me and continued, "Therefore until she leaves I have decided to let her join a team. As a fifth member. Temporarily. This will be decided after school today. Therefore if anyone wants to let her join their team then please go to the main hall and enter your name and team name on the slip of paper which will be provided."

Wow! I thought I think that's the most Professors Ozpin said in one go. Without realising it Weiss raised her hand and said, "Professor Ozpin, how long do you mean by temporary?" The professor looked our way and then turned back to the class, "she will be here for about a week maybe two." He said. I saw that Weiss felt uneasied but I didn't know why. Professor Ozpin continued and said, "Now is there anymore questions?" Someone put their hand up. He ignored them and said, "good, now with out further ado, Professor Port can you please fetch her from outside. She must be getting bored of waiting."

Professor Port was standing in the doorway. So that's were he was, I thought. "It would be my pleaser." He said. He then left the room and a few seconds later he returned and said, "here she is." As he opened the door for the new student. I grew curious as to who it might be.

Why me? I asked myself as I walked up to the door of the classroom. Why do I have to wear such a short skirt. My face was bright red as I enter the room. They were all staring at me and I felt really embarrassed. My hands were pulling down on my blazer and my face was facing the floor. I didn't want to look up. It would be way too scary to have to look them in the eye. When I finally made it to were my Uncle, I mean Professor Ozpin was standing I turned towards the class. He then asked me. "Why don't you introduce yourself to the class?" "I nodded, no time to be embarrassed I thought. I raised my head and said, "ummm...hello..." I got my first good look at the class and I grew scared again so I tilted my head down and said, "my name is Emily Jackson. Please look after me while I'm here." I can't believe I did it I thought. I raised my head. Professor Ozpin told me to go sit in the empty seat next to a girl with a red hooded cloak. I did as he said. At least, I thought, their are no boys in that area, I would hate to be wearing this near them. Professor Ozpin said his good byes to the class as a whole and left as the other Professor took over the lesson.

"Hi," I turned to my right to face the girl with the red hood who just spoke. "Hi," I said to her in a quite tone. I was too nervous to speak normally. Maybe it's because I'm in an unknown place. "I'm Ruby Rose." She said suddenly. "Oh," I said,"I'm..." "I know, your Emily Jackson." I became confused, when was my name Emily Jackson. My face turned even more red, (if that's even possible) when I remembered what I had said when I introduced myself. I can't believe, I thought, that I was nervous enough to forget my name. I can't correct her now it would be too embarrassing. I guess I'll have to be Emily Jackson for now.
