I started to walk to my morning lecture.
Spring was in the air and tiny buds on the trees started to pop up. It was a little nice to get out, breathe in the fresh air but I hated walking on the wet sidewalk. I stared down at the pavement while walking.

I need to go to class...
Pick up some new shoes.
Finish up my report.
And...

I was interrupted, crashing into a young woman.
"Excuse me." She got up and brushed herself off.
"Pardon me." I shrugged. I started to walk away. She had softened her look.
"Wait. Are you new here?" She pulled me by the shoulder.
"No. I've been here for the past three years." I replied shortly.
"How come I've never seen you?" She held out her hand.
I looked at it.
What the hell does she want me to do with that?
"I guess I'm a hermit." I shrugged. She took my hand and shook it.
We aren't business partners.
"Well, it's nice to meet you." She smiled. "I'm Fawn."
"Cool. Well, I'm going to get going." I started to walk off.
"Wait what's your name?!" She hollered at me.
"I'm Elias." I quickened my pace.
I'm going to be late.

My lecture dragged on and on. I faded in and out of drowsiness, combating my lack of sleep from the night before.
It finally ended and I felt a wave of relief. I only had to survive one more lecture.
By the end of my day, I felt as though I had taken a whole bottle of melatonin.
I could really use a coffee.
I stumbled to the library.
I sat down with a pile of papers- homework.
Fuck. I hate this.
Studying was hard. I couldn't focus.
I started to write out my report. It was some ludicrous essay about politics. I hated politics.

"As early as 2012, there has been speculation that..."

I couldn't finish the sentence. I was writing utter bullshit. Speculation?
No, that wouldn't work. I pondered for a period of time what I would even report.
"Hey!" I jumped at the sound of a voice. It was a woman.
For heaven's sake...
"What?" I looked up. It was the same woman from before.
"It's me! I bumped into you a couple hours earlier." She exclaimed.
"Oh cool." I rested my chin on my hand. I avoided eye contact with her. She was boring, probably another one of those troublesome girls.
Probably has a boyfriend...
Probably that girl who would have ignored me in high school...
Probably just here for my money.

"So I'm Fawn. Fawn Daniels." She smiled at me.
"Cool I'm Evan Lock." I shrugged and continued to ignore her.
"You have one fancy watch." She responded.
"Thanks." I looked up at her, she was expecting a compliment back.
"Where'd you get it?" She touched my wrist.
"Thanks it's a Rolex." I reply sharply.
"Ooh, icy." Fawn grinned and I looked back at her.
"I guess. If that's what you mean by it's cool." I tried to come off as dry and unappealing as possible.
"Yeah. So I was wondering if you were doing something Friday?" She leaned in closer to me. "I mean I could use a friend to go with me to this party."
"We just met." I frowned and looked up from my book.
She looked shocked by me, almost rejected. She had the same look as I did when I got rejected by who I had hoped was my prom date...
"I mean I guess I could go." I shrugged again, inspecting her reaction. She smiled.
"Sweet!" She responded. " It's in house 203."
Oh... She was a frat girl.
I nodded slowly.
"So do you have a fancy car to match the watch." She continued to pester me.
Just go away. God.
"I guess you'll find out." I looked back to my papers.
"Ooh... Hey so you're over 21 right?!" She poked my shoulder. Her wispy blonde hair sweeping into my view.
"Yeah. I'm 21 right now. Why?"
"Well there's going to be a ton of drinking. We're going to get blasted that night!"
"I'm more of a scotch at eleven and go to bed kind of guy."
"Well, I'm sure I can loosen you up. I'm a lot of fun when I'm drunk as hell. I'm pretty lit when I get a margarita." I cringed at her wording.
"Yeah?"
"Oh yeah. Trust me I have some pretty hot friends, too. They're also a lot of fun. Let's see, there's Madison, Sara, Rachel and... Me!"
"Huh."
"You'll have a lot of fun."
"I'm sure."
"You'll be a party animal in no time!"
"I just wish Friday would get here sooner." I sarcastically added. The dusty library wasn't the only thing suffocating me.
"I'm sure you'll be invited to them more. You ever party with the frat boys?" She asked.
"No. I don't usually get along with them."
"Oh believe me, they can be quite annoying but once liquor drains into them, it's a good time."
"Yeah?"
"Oh yeah, you could even get a lap dance from one of the girls there."
No thanks. I'm pretty sure that some of these girls are too young to be drinking.
I also hate drunk people, especially ones that are trying to rub up on my junk.
"I'm assuming it gets pretty wild huh."
"Oh yeah! It's so fun."
"Why do you need a date then?"
"Well sometimes we get to go home with our date... And sometimes our girlfriends get to go home or... y'know. A great hookup."
Great- liquor and sex don't mix well. I hate hook ups anyways.
"Oh."
"Come on wouldn't you just love to get laid?" She laughed.
"Not really."
"You're a virgin?"
"Well, that's a very personal question."
"Come on."
"Well, no. I'm not."
"See? Sex is amazing." She chuckled. "Y'know the whole sex positive movement. So are you slut shaming me or what?"
No, I'm not. I couldn't give a shit, if I'm being honest. Sleep with everyone and anyone you want, just not me.
"No, it's good you..." I paused trying to think of a word. "Find pleasure in it."
"Exactly! So I'll see you at eight, house 203 and don't be late!"
