I was forced to follow my father in, knowing all my team members were listening and talking in my ear. My mom was standing in the hallway, arms crossed, but she didn’t look mad. Something else was pasted on her face.

“Belle.” Dad started, and I sat down on the couch, crossing one leg over the other. “You can’t be dating someone so over your age.”

“He’s not far over my age.” I corrected them, tilting my head up sharply. “He’s twenty-two.”

“And you’re eighteen. That’s four years.” His hand shot out and his finger was an inch from my face. “You can’t do that. You can’t date him.”

“I’m eighteen, you can’t tell me what to do!” I shot at him, standing up, stomping my foot. “I’m so sick of your crap, always telling me what to do!” I turned towards my mom, who didn’t say anything, so I whipped around and hurried to the stairs. “I’m so done.” My arms shot horizontally out before I ran up the stairs.

“Belle!”  Dad called after me.

“Lucas, let her go.” Mom ordered, and that was the last thing I heard before my door shammed shut.

My body slid down the door and my legs crossed as I sat on the carpet, my head in my hands. I wasn't sad. I wasn't about to cry. I was pissed beyond belief that he could actually try and do that to me.

"Belle." Jane almost said it like a question, but she reframed from it. "See ya tomorrow?"

I tilted my head up, but my arms crossed over my knees that were flat against my chest. "Yeah."

At work, I was bombarded with questions. It was weird enough I was pulled in once I stepped inside the building, but it was like a trap. Peter sat me down at my desk and they were all crowded around me, waiting for me to talk.

"What?" I asked when I was annoyed with their silent stares.

"So how did it… go last night?" Jane pestered, and she was the closet to me, with her elbows on the desk and right in my face. "On your date."

"Oh, it was fine." I replied, but my eyebrows scrunched as o realized they were still staring at me. "What?"

"We're just… happy." Milo replied when no one else did. "I never would've imagined the day that you were okay with dating someone again."

"Milo." Alex hissed, but even though the subject was very sensitive, I had to get over it.

"It's okay." I stated, nodding. "I… think I'm okay now." Finally. After three years now. "Jack would've wanted me to move on."

"That's the spirit." Alex came over and wrapped his arms around my shoulders comfortingly. "Just think about how much more life is going to open up now."

"Vice might even give ya that raise you've been pestering him about for so long." Peter joked, cause let's be serious, no he wouldn't.

"Well, now, since you'll be back, you get to file the rest of the reports that you keep trying to get out of." Jane stated, picking up the box that was by my desk and dropping it on top, and it slammed hard.

"You're really going to make her do that?" Alex asked, and Jane cocked an eyebrow.

"Do you wanna help?" She shot back, and the guys left without a problem. "I thought so." She picked up one of her pistols from an open drawer, "I'm going to practice. See ya later."

"You really suck." I stated before she chuckled and left. Now it was just me, the reports, and the time I needed to do them.
