The doctors were all confused as to why Paul had no memory, since he was shot in the chest and fell into John's lap, there was no damage to the head.

The doctors ended up blaming the memory loss to shock, and had some hope of Paul regaining it.

Everything was making Paul nervous, him only knowing that he was in a hospital and that there were people who claimed they knew him, but he had no recollection of who they were. This broke John's heart every day, and even still he refused to leave the hospital.

George and Ringo took turns staying with John in the ER and spent the other time with Brian deciding how to cancel their shows.

"Mr. Lennon? I'm going to have to ask you to leave Mr. McCartney's room. Visiting hours are over." A nurse smiled politely.

John had been sitting by Paul's bedside. though the latter was sleeping. "Alright."

"Johnny.."

"Paulie?" John's head whipped around to face his secret boyfriend.

His large hazel eyes fluttered open. "Don't leave me, Johnny."

"Mr. McCartney, do you know who this man is?" The nurse questioned, shocked.

"Of course I know who this is. This is John Lennon, the best musician and man to ever live." Paul praised, without ever leaving John's eyes.

"Why, this is wonderful news!" The nurse rushed out of the hospital room.

"Macca." John's eyes slowly filled with tears as he knelt down at the bassist's side. "I didn't think you'd ever remember me."

Paul smiled. "I could never forget you."

Paul remembered everything. He knew who everyone was, he knew who he was, and he had memories and recollections of past events.

The news had hit the headlines, and according to the newspapers Paul was dead, and once the news that The Beatles would continue touring came out, Paul was going to be replaced by a lookalike. Brian quickly shut all these rumors down. The press let up, and Paul was discharged.

John took Paul home to their flat that John had kept even though Paul had tried to convince him to sell it after fame hit.

Brian had tried to keep Paul under professional care and in London but John overruled and they went back to Liverpool. John ended up having to explain his secret relationship to their manager, it was the only way Brian would even hear about Paul not being under professional care. This meant that only three other people knew about them.

Performances for the next month were called off, and that gave the Lennon-McCartney duo some time off.
