Chapter 3

Zoe's POV

I'm shaking. I'm scared of what I'm going to find out from Kyle. Kyle is Jared's brother? This is all so confusing. And what did Jared to to Monica!? My head hurts from all of this. As I'm running away in my thoughts Kyle says "Zoe? are you listening?" I completely zoomed out. "Um no sorry I was just thinking about everything,sorry" I say. "Its fine I'll just start over." Kyle says. "Okay" I say back. "So Jared... We used to live away from here and he had a bad reputation. Jared used to get a girlfriend and then cheat on her but use his girlfriend just to hurt them..he would find out there biggest secrets then when he would break up with them, he would threaten to tell there secrets if they told anyone about it. I never did anything like that but Jared always threatened me too. He would make me defend him and I was to weak to fight back. But now I have a reason to fight back." He says.

"And what's the reason Kyle?" I ask him.

"...You,it's you Zoe." he says while looking down.

"Kyle, I like you, I really do, but we just met and I don't know what to think right now... your brother uses girls Kyle! And you used to help him!" I snap back at him.

"I'm not like that anymore Zoe please!" he begs me to hear him out but I've heard enough. "I think you should leave Kyle" I tell him while not making eye contact. I don't know what to do. Kyle has a broken past. I can't fix that but how do I know he's telling the truth. What if Kyle was behind Monica's

Thing with Jared too?? "Please Zoe... just call me and I'll explain this more too you." he takes a paper and pen and writes his number for me then walks out the door.

A few hours go by and I managed to get Monica up the stairs and into my room where we could both sleep. When morning. Came Monica was still asleep so I went downstairs to say hey to my parents. i smell bacon and eggs cooking on the way down. my mom sees me and says "good morning sweetheart!" I reply "morning mom" "your father and I have work today and we won't be back till late again. I'm sorry sweetie" she says. "It's okay mom I'm fine" I reply. She looks at her watch and says well I better get going.

She kisses my head and heads out the door. I hear Monica say my name. "Coming" I shout up the stairs. When I get up the stairs Monica tells me she wants to talk about what happened last night. "Well" she starts to speak but she's sniffling from crying so much. " we were in the room making out when his phone rang,he ignored the call then the number kept calling so he put his phone in the closet and then he said he was going to the bathroom. I got up to check his phone and he had 12 messages from someone named Karolina. so I checked the messages.

She kept texting him 'hey baby' and 'when will I see you again babe' and when I turned around Jared saw me reading his messages and he pushed me against the wall. I was crying, he cheated and hurt me. I told him secrets and he threatened to tell them to everyone if I told anyone about this."

Monica is crying again I comfort her and try to get her to stop. We get breakfast and head out to town to go shopping. On the way I see a group of junior boys and just my luck I see Kyle. I try not to look at him because I'll fall into his trance and I'll be more pathetic than I already am. But unfortunately he sees me and heads toward me. I keep my head down. And Monica just couldn't keep her mouth shut so she blurts out "weren't you the guy who drove us home last night?" and Kyle responds uncomfortably "um yeah that was me...are you okay?" "Monica fakes a smile and says "eh not really."
