"Pheww at least that interview is over"
I was in the car ready to go back home. Before I left the office a few minutes ago we exchanged phone numbers and made sure that we would meet up again some day.
As I stood in front of my apartment door, I felt the door was unlocked.
Oh please not again.
As I walked in I found Sofi (aka Sofia Morelli. She doesn't like me calling her Miss Morelli) in my kitchen busy cooking a meal for me. She is my very loving and caring neighbour but also sometimes scary. She's about in her late 60's. She's more of a mother figure to me.
Littlerilly.
There was this one time when she was busy making food and I was just sitting by the counter busy on my phone. The moment she turned around, I took a spoon and tasted the food. When she turned around and saw the spoon she immediately knew that I tasted the food and scolded at me and said I was "banned" from the kitchen and had to go sit in the living room.
And theirs one thing u need to know about her. She takes her food very seriously. Very.
"Hi Sofia"
"Hello darling. How did the interview go?"
"Pretty great actually. But listen to this. You would not believe whose the head in the finance department"
"Finance? How come you never never told me about taking an interview there."
"Sure I told. Hundreds of times. I told you u should go and have your hearing checked out. Or......you could be getting alzheimer's."
As I said that she threw me with some flour that was laying on the counter. She hates when I tease her about being so forgetful. Lately it's been getting worse. I always tell her to go to a doctor or something but she's one stubborn lady that's never shows any sign of weakness. As I never had a mother growing up, I never really had anybody to look up to. But ever since I moved to New York and into this apartment, she kind of became like a second mother to me.
"Anway dear, what were you saying"
"Oh yes. Guess what. U know my best friend that I used to tell you about. The one that we lost contact a few years after high school."
"Ummm..... I think so. I don't know"
"His name is John Anderson by the way. Anyway he is the head of finance and the person I had the interview with. I couldn't contain myself when I saw him. I gave him the biggest hug that I could possibly give."
"But if you went for an interview, isn't it obvious that u should know who the person is who's going to interview you"
"Yeah they told me but only his surname. How am I supposed to know. There are hundreds of Anderson's in New York"
"True..........So did you get the job"
"What! I wish. They still have to phone me but I'm sure someone else will get it because they all looked much more experienced than me"
"Nonsense. You are the smartest girl I know and don't worry. I will pray for you"
"Thanks Sofi. Enough about me, how was your day"
"Boring as always. Ok enough chit chatting, let's eat!"
As we were setting the table, Sofi's phone rang. When she went to go check, it was her sister from L.A.
Sofi has a older sister from about two years apart. She lives in L.A. with her husband Pete, kids and grandkids. Sofi used to live here with her husband but he died of a heart attack. They never had any children as she was unable to. Instead of moving to L.A. (since her sister is the only family she's got) she decided to stay in New York because all her friends were over here and she never really knew anyone over there.
As Sofi went into the kitchen to answer the phone, I was busy setting up the dining room table.
A few minutes later Sofi came from the kitchen into the living room. I was busy watching a movie on t.v. As I looked up I saw her eyes had tears in them. I immediately switched off the t.v. and went her.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
I asked in panic."Something terrible happened to Pete"

Well that took me extremely long to update but there it is. Hope it's not that boring.
