Byun Baekhyun woke up suddenly. His temple throbbing because of his loud mother, yelling at him from the first floor to wake up and change quickly.

Baekhyun sat up slowly and yelled back, saying that he'd need around 15 minutes to take a shower and get dressed.

He turned the warm water on, stepping under the hot droplets. He indulged himself in the short 5 minute shower, making sure to savour every second of the only personal time he ever got in his controlling household.

He sighed as he realized he shouldn't take any longer and stepped onto the cold bathroom tile and wrapped his towel around his waist.

He dressed himself in casual clothing and brought two suitcases, prepared the day before, downstairs with him to greet his parents and eat before he would leave for the summer.

His father mumbled a "good morning" while his mother served a small breakfast. Baekhyun greeted them back and sat down quietly as he picked at his food.

"Do I really have to go?"

His father put down the newspaper and stared in his direction. "What do you mean do you have to go? We've already paid and it would do you no good to spend months without practicing."

"I realize that, but just this once, can I stay home? With you? Can I spend my summer like anyone else, with no responsablilites?"

"Bullshit. You said this is what you wanted. All we've done is help you get to where you want and you want to throw away all of our hardwork for what? A couple of beach trips with some delinquents?" Baekhyun's father stopped to take a breath. "What's the point of living if you never continuously work toward something? I didn't raise an average son. You're going."

Baekhyun was never close to his father, but he knew well enough to never argue with him when he got too heated up. He still opposed the idea of going, wanting desperately to skip one summer of constant lessons and practices and coaches breathing down his neck while people he barely knew would talk about him when they thought he wasn't listening.

Those kinds of camps were only filled with rich, flirty snobs who sneak off into the woods to do whatever they have to do instead of actually attending the lessons. The instructors are well aware, yet never say anything because they know the kids could singe-handedly ruin their careers.

Nevertheless, Baekhyun knew that it was too late to drop out. His parents already payed the tuition and boarding. He already signed forms and packed. He would be incredibly selfish if he skipped out on the day of.

He decided to do the adult thing and went upstairs to get his bags together.

Soon, the private bus pulled up in front of his house, and he waved goodbye to his parents before stepping through the sliding door and sitting in an aisle by himself.

At this moment Baekhyun decided that he would not associate with anyone. He was there to train and practice. Not that it was too easy for him to make friends. He already decided that he didnt like anyone there.

Baekhyun put in his earbuds and closed his eyes, waiting for the bus to arrive at their destination.
