Chapter Seven – Party-time

Summer’s POV)

I didn’t do as Niall said that night. Instead I spent it crying in my room, as usually. He texted me late, probably right before he went to bed and asked me how I felt. I said I was fine but he didn’t answer because he probably fell asleep. It made me a bit sadder since I was in such a vulnerable state. I felt so lonely sitting in my room with nothing to keep me company but myself and my music.

When I woke up in the morning I had a text from Niall. “Sorry, love, I fell asleep. Did you confront them? I love you. xx”

That’s when I realized that Niall wouldn’t let this go until I faced my parents or else he would. So I got up and went to my parent’s bedroom. Mum was still in bed, of course, she was always hangover in the mornings. I told her we needed to talk and then I found my dad reading the news-paper at the kitchen table. We all sat down and I started to talk. I wasn’t use to this. We never had any family-talks; we never talked about things like this.

I told them that I couldn’t take it anymore. That I was so tired of their behaviour. That I knew that it was hard to see my other siblings in the position they are in but that they had two children more that really needed them to be there for them. My sister came down to join my side. I think they listened to us. My mum hugged us and cried and said that she would try to change for the better. The rest of the day was pretty awkward though. We couldn’t really talk normally to each-other, we pretty much avoided each-other. I hoped that it would change back to normal soon.

I biked to Niall’s house because it wasn’t far and it was so warm and light outside for many hours during the evenings now.

He greeted me with a hug when I knocked on the door. I had texted him earlier and told him about everything.

“I’m proud of you, my strong and beautiful girl.” As I closed my eyes in our hug, a tear ran down from my face. Niall was the best thing that ever happened to me. He meant everything.

“Thank you.” I whispered. When I opened my eyes again I saw a woman standing by the kitchen door. She had short blonde hair and a proud smile on her face.

I let go of Niall and we walked over to his mum.

“Hi, honey, you can call me Maura.” She said and gave me a quick hug. She was really nice and the diner was really fun. Maura’s husband, Chris, was also there and so was Niall’s dad, Bobby, and of course Greg. Everyone got along just well and it felt as I finally was a part of a real family.

After the diner Maura and Chris went back to their hotel and before they left they made plans for tomorrow with Niall. Bobby and Greg said good-bye to me in the doorway and Niall followed me outside.

“You’re mum is so nice, your entire family is lovely.” I said.

“They can have their moments; mum and dad haven’t been in the same room in ages. They always fight.”

“Yes, but tonight you were all a big happy family.”

“Yeah, it was really nice.” He smiled big at me. Then he suddenly looked really excited.

“And oh, we’re invited to Louis party in a couple of weeks.” He said with an eager voice.

It suddenly made me really nervous. Louis was three years older than me and so was probably everyone else on the party. It would probably be a lot of drinking. I don’t really like when people drink too much, you know why. What a hell was I going to wear?

* * *

Friday, two weeks later, it was time for Louis’ party. Louis talked to us at the music lesson and told us how excited he was for all the people that was coming and told us it was going to be a smashing night. The party was for him to pre-celebrate his graduation together with people for his class and some from the rest of the school. He told me that it was okay for me to bring a friend or two so I invited Emma. She came over and helped me pick out an outfit that said “party” but still was my style. I didn’t want to dress too fancy and I never wore dresses; I didn’t even own one so wearing that would really make me feel over-dressed. It was only a house-party after all.

I just put on black skinny-jeans - it was probably getting colder later that night - and my new black Beatles shirt. I usually didn’t wear much make-up so I figure mascara and a little eye-liner was enough. I grabbed my jeans-jacket on my way out.

Emma, apart from me that had my birthday in August, already had hers so she was 16 but we can’t receive a driver’s licence until we’re 17 in UK. So my mum drove us and we picked up Niall on our way there and then she dropped us of at Louis’ house. Niall held his arm around my waist as we walked up towards the house, Emma walked by my side. She totally loved Niall to, as a friend of course. We all three had the same freaky mind, we laughed at every bad joke and we basically joked around all the time and of course we had the small moments when we were serious.

The door was open so we just walked right in but most people were outside on the back-yard so we went there. The only one of us that brought alcohol along was Emma that had stolen a bottle of vodka from her parents. We took a glass each and mixed it with coke.

Truth is I’m not so much for parties. First of all I would never drink so much that I became anywhere near drunk, because I knew what could happen when you’re too drunk, just look at my parents.

Second of all parties was a great way to meet new people but I was too shy to start talking to someone. I wasn’t attractive or fun enough for someone to start talking to me.

It was pretty many people there, more than what I think Louis invited. We found some chairs and we sat down. Emma started to talk with a cute guy next to her that I never seen before but he seemed nice. I joined their conversation too since Louis came to speak with Niall. Then I felt a warm hand on my shoulder and I turned around to see Harry and his adorable curls.

“Hello, I saw you at the audition, did you do well?” he asked. He was holding a bear-can but he was completely sober because after all it was still early.

“Yes, I did actually,” I answered. “Do you play anything?”

“Nah, I just sing.”

“Oh, you any good?”

“Excellent.” He answered and I realized he was trying to flirt. I felt honoured that he thought I was good-looking enough to talk to. After all I went to the same class as him for almost two years in my life before and he only spoken one sentence to me. I was with Niall now so I wasn’t interested in him at all.

“So, you like Beatles?” Harry continued and I could feel his eyes all over my body. He was checking me out a bit too intense.

“Of course, they’re the gods of music.” I answered.

“Yes, they are.” He answered and still was looking at me with inappropriate eyes.

“Have you met Niall, my boyfriend?” I asked him just to be clear to him that I was taken. I poked Niall on his shoulder and he turned around. I introduced Harry to Niall and Louis and told him that they liked music too. The three immediately got in to a conversation and moved to sit together at a table a few meters away. At that table sat two other boys.

“I’m Zayn,” I could hear the black-haired boys say. I noticed his beautiful eyes from that distance.

“And I’m Liam.” The other boy with strait, brown hair said. No one seemed to know each-other from before, except for Louis and Niall but they haven’t been so close. Still, all of them got along from the first second and it was just so fascinating to see. Five minutes later they all were best friends. They all seemed so different from the other so it was a wonder how they got along but I guess opposites attract.

Then I realized that I’ve seen these five boys together. It had been in my other life. They had preformed a Christmas song in the auditorium right before we went home for our Christmas break back in December 2011. This must have been faith, I thought to myself. I didn’t destroy anything. This was Niall’s band. This was One Direction. They just didn’t know it yet.
