Niall’s POV:
They say you never forget your first love. You know what? You never do. Summer was my first love and I would never stop loving her. Some get the opportunity to spend the rest of their lives together with there first loves if the love is strong enough. Sometimes the first love doesn’t last long and the relationship ends early. Sometimes you just go separate ways for something that it decided by faith.
It was a warm spring day and it was time for what we called a “One Direction get-together.” We had it once a year when all the lads from our old band meet up together with their children and grandchildren. Life had given us so much and we didn’t regret a single day. We were still good friends and not a single fight had kept us apart.
I stood in the kitchen window, watching my children help my wife as she set the tables for everyone that was coming. She had picked some fresh flowers that had grown in the warm spring-sun, she put them in a vase on the table. Young children were running around in the yard, they didn’t know all the things that the future had in store for them.
My wife caught my eyes and smiled at me. Her skin pale and her hair gray. She was still beautiful though, just like the first time I saw her. I smiled back and then a little note in the window caught my eye. I picked it up. Through the years the small piece of paper got more and more yellow and the letters was almost gone. But I still could still see the clear black letters in front of me; I had watched it so many times. “I Love You.” It said.
I saw Harry’s car pull up in the drive way and I gently put the note back down. As I got out, I meet my wife down the stairs. I gave her a quick kiss before I grabbed her hand and then we walked over to Harry together.
Harry’s daughter Darcy was the one to drive him there, Harry’s legs didn’t work as good as they used to. Harry grabbed his crutch and I could see the pain in his face as he struggled to get out of the car. He walked the few meters to us. His smile was still big and his dimples still visible through his deep wrinkles.
“Niall, my friend.” He said and we hugged tightly for a long while. We haven’t seen each-other in a while. Okay, it had only been a week but that was a really long time for us. We let each-other go and he looked at my wife.
“Hello Summer, looking as good as always, babe.” He said and gave her the cheeky smile he always had when he smiled at her.
They hugged and soon the entire yard was filled with family. Five brothers and their families; always together, through everything.
Summer never told me what happened that day but it didn’t matter. All that matters was that she came back to me.
She came back to me.
THE END.
