"Hey there (Y/n)." You looked up from your desk to see the silver fox known as Greg Lestrade standing in front of you.
"Good afternoon."
"How has your first week back been?" Vaguely nodding your head and humming, you went back to clicking through a case file that you were working on.You had gone on 'holiday' for two weeks. An emergency trip to the Bahamas to see a sick family member was what it really was. Greg sat on the edge of your table and chuckled.
"Not very talkative then?" There was silence, broken only by the clicking of your computer mouse.
"Hey, (Y/n)?" He tried again. "What are you doing tomorrow?"
"Working." You narrowed your eyes slightly. He was your boss. He knew exactly what you were doing.
"Well you aren't anymore." Finally looking back up, you raised an eyebrow and sighed.
"Oh yes? And what am I doing instead?"
"Going to this new bakery with me. We're going undercover!" You nodded slowly.
"What will we be doing then? As undercover bakery spies?" Greg explained a day of testing pies while being on the look out for any suspicious activity.
"So basically it's an excuse to go pie eating with me?"
"Basically."

So that's how you ended up sitting in a sickly sweet smelling pie shop with Greg Lestrade. It was nearing the end of the day and not only was there no kind of crime, you were filled to the brim with pie! Reluctantly agreeing to try one slice of pie had made you realise that it was actually very good and you decided to treat yourself to another slice. Only, one more slice turned into about three more slices...
"Come on Greg. Let's just go. There's nothing going on here." He sighed in defeat.
"I got a tip off. I was so sure that something was-" At the till there was a sudden commotion.
"Give me all the money!" There were a few screams and your sharp ears picked up the distinct clicking of a gun. You and Greg ran over, shoving people aside. Was it just you or had the very large but cramped store gotten even bigger and even more cramped? Greg pulled out his badge when you got to the criminal, and you pulled your gun. He took one look you and your acomplice and tore out of the store, running as fast as his legs would carry him. Sprinting after him, you could hear Greg's heavy footsteps just behind you. The chase was over quickly when the criminal hesitated weather to turn left or right. You rugby tackled him to the floor which, really, wasn't necessary but you did it anyway. What? It made you look cool! As you slapped a pair of handcuffs around his wrists and made sure that his gun was well out of his reach, you could hear Greg radioing in for a van.

It was now about 11 PM. All of the paperwork had just been filed and the two of you - you and Greg - were free to go. Just as you closed the door behind you and stepped into the cool night air, a freezing gust of wind hit you like a ton of bricks and a fat raindrop fell directly onto your nose. Closing your eyes and letting out a sigh, you wrapped your uncovered arms around yourself and shivered. The one day you had decided to walk to work instead of taking your car! A man cleared his throat behind you. Turning around, you saw Greg Lestrade. You walked closer to each other nervously.
"Well done, boss. You were right all along." You said softly.
"(Y/n). There's no need for this sudden formality." He chuckled quietly. The rain had begun to come down heavier and you were visably shaking. Without hesitation, Greg took off his coat, draped it over your arms and pulled the large hood over your hair. You were encased with warmth and the smell of spices and oak. You did always love his cologne... Wordlessly, you pushed yourself forward on your tiptoes and placed a short but sweet kiss on his lips. Before he could say a word, you turned on your heel, leaving the man smiling behind you. Although you couldn't be entirely be sure, you could've sworn that you heard him mutter to himself before walking in the other direction.
"She really is as sweet as pie..."
