9 months later...
"It's a boy! The doctor was right!" Hayden screamed excitedly from beside Krista.
One of the demon nurses who had her horns covered with blue surgical cloths held the baby gently. Instead of crying, he was sitting in the nurse's arms covered in blood. After offering one last smile to Krista that showed off the nurse's perfect white canines, she walked away to the corner where another nurse was waiting with a basin of water and a white towel.
Krista smiled at the nurse painfully before directing her smile towards Hayden who had his eyes closed in pure bliss. The pain Krista had suffered through the whole ordeal was definitely taking a toll on her body.
Suddenly, the machine beside her bed started beeping loudly. The several doctors that were spread all over the room rushed over to Krista who had her eyes closed and was trembling all over.
The beeps were loud and fast-paced, reminding Hayden of a death clock.
Frantically, he tried to run over to Krista but the doctors had formed an impenetrable circle around her bed.
A doctor with abnormally long horns dragged Hayden out and said, "Please wait here patiently."
Hayden was left there worry-stricken, staring at a door behind which his life source existed.
Spotting one of the many couches that littered his castle, he sat down; still as a statue waiting for the words that could either make him ecstatic or ruin his entire life.
Patiently he waited as the whispers of the demon doctors were the only thing he could hear.
Inside the room, Krista only felt pain everywhere. Her vision had turned black with no flashes of light anywhere.
Her ears resounded with the fast-paced beep which matched her heartbeat. The beat was painful and loud in her ears. Slowly, the sound started to fluctuate between flat and high. Altogether, everything in her faded.
The sounds had almost vanished and the pain was changing into numbness.
Her eyes started seeing color instead of the normal black. Krista was seeing her entire life flash past her eyes at an almost dizzying pace.
There she was seeing her parents for the first time. Graduating high-school for the first time and graduating happily.
The next memory almost made Krista gasp out loud but she had no energy left to even a finger. In front of her flashed the memory of her death. The way she flailed and screamed in the water as her mom held her down inside the water by the neck.
Her mom's face was twisted up in a vicious grin as her daughter drowned in the water.
The memory only lasted a millisecond but it hurt Krista even if she was dying the second time.
The next memory was of Krista staring at a grim reaper. Instead of feeling scared, she laughed boldly in the reaper's face.
She was shown eating her first food at the Underworld which finalized Krista's permanent address; The Underworld.
The rest of the memories almost passed before she could get a vague idea of what they were about. The countless grim reaper birthdays, the movie nights, late nights with Hayden and all the funny moments.
Krista just felt bad that she couldn't make even more memories with them. That was selfish of her but just this once, she wanted to be like any other human and to cry for immortality.
In a flash of bright purple light, everything vanished and she stood in front of beautiful blue gates.
Unnoticed, a tear slipped out of Krista's flat-lined body. A tear mourning for all the memories she hadn't created and for losing her home and the amazing people that came with it.
