They didn't say much but ask my name. They told me to go with them because they had to say something to me. My mom said to always obey an officer or you will get in trouble so I nodded my head and grabbed my things. They looked kind of disappointed and had a sad look on their face. They led me to the car and I climbed into the back seat. They closed the door and stood outside for a couple seconds. they were talking but I couldn't tell what they were saying from inside. They finished talking and climbed into the car. The officer driving looked at me through the mirror inside and said, "Don't worry. Everything will be okay. Your not in trouble." I felt so scared to my stomach and I felt so sick. I thought if this had to do anything with my family. It wasn't that long a drive but it felt like an eternity. They escorted me out of the car and took me inside the police station. I could feel more than the people there staring at me. I could tell that they were all whispering something quietly to each other. I walked through the little way they were making for me. I noticed that some of the officers were taking their hats off and gently shaking their heads sort of saying, "I'm sorry.....".

They led me to a room were there were a couple of people already there. They asked me for more information like my date of birth and a couple of more things. They asked if they could have a sample of my DNA. I was a little afraid but I had to agree so I could get out of there fast because my parents might be home. They left for about three or four hours but they offered me food and a place to rest if I was tired. I accepted because I thought it would be rude to not. I was about to take a nap until someone knocked on the door excusing themselves to come in. I sat back up and looked at them. It was a very tall person and he looked like the boss. He dressed more formal and, surprisingly more elegant for a officer. He looked at me straight in the eyes and asked to come with him. I followed right behind and I went even deeper into the place. We passed a couple of rooms until we went into a room that said investigation 4. I walked in before him and my eyes were wide open. There was a huge wall with pictures and information of my family. There was my dad, sister, brother and, my mother. The officer asked me to take a deep breath and to sit down. I did as he asked but my heart wouldn't stop racing. My hearing was lagging and so was my actions. He patted my shoulder and bended down to his knees.

"I'm sorry to say this to you but there is no other way I can make this seem better or impossible, your parents passed away last night in a car crash. " he said. All I was thinking while he was saying something else was "sorry". I couldn't move a single muscle. I could feel water trickling down my cheeks but I still didn't react. My mind went blank and my hearing was gone until I heard something that caught my attention quickly. He said that my brother was still alive and was in recovery to a nearby hospital. He said that he was in a coma and was in a really fragile state. He said I could go meet him so used up whatever consciousness I had left and nodded my head. We left with no time to spare and pulled up to the hospital. I could feel my heart racing all over again as we walked inside. We walked up to the lady at the desk and asked for my brother. she told us the room number and floor and we went up to the elevator. My heart was pounding so hard I thought that the person next to me could hear it. I arrived to the floor and looked for the room as I was walking. My heart was beating an incredible rate now until we came up to the room. I couldn't go inside but I could look in through the big window. My heart dropped as soon as I saw my brother laying in the bed in the snow white room. He looked half dead and not moving at all. The officer patted my back and told me it was time to go but, how was I supposed to leave my brother who was barely five years old all by himself? I looked the officer straight in the eyes and told him I was going to stay and that he would never take me. He stepped back and turned around without another word to say and left. I clenched my fists together and slowly sat down with my knees to my face. I cried and cried for such a long I forgot when I came here. I slowly slipped away and fell asleep with tears filling my eyes. I woke up to a gentle touch in a warm comfy  bed like place. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a figure of a person. I wanted to think that everything that happened to me before was all a lie and that it was just a horrible dream. I awoke to my cousin and his grandma. In 'their' house. They apologized to me and said I was welcome to live with them for as long as I liked. It wasn't a dream and i had to face reality. Time passed and I agreed to live with them and frequently visited my brother hoping that one day he would wake up and I can see his smile and hear his laughter one more time.
