!!!STILL SMUT!!!Barry's POV
It had been a few weeks since Leonard and I started living together. Usually we stayed at his apartment, but whenever he felt we weren't safe he'd move us to a safehouse with Mick and/or Lisa. I was starting to grow accustomed to it now. Occasionally I broke a few of his house rules, however, which drove him crazy. For instance, I knew I wasn't suppose to open the door for anyone -apparently if they were allowed in, they'd have a key- but I still opened it all the time. Today was the first day I actually regretted it. The man before me looked familiar, yet I didn't know who he was. A million possibilities ran rampant in my head until I realized I hadn't said anything and was just staring at him.
"Oh, umm. Can I help you?" He looked me up and down with cold eyes.
"I'm looking for my son. Leonard Snart." This came as a shock to me. I didn't know Leonard's dad was still alive. He never talked about him, so somewhere along the way I just assumed he wasn't around. I wasn't sure how much he knew about Leonard's career/lifestyle so I pretended that I didn't know either.
"He left this morning to pick something up. I'm not sure when he'll be back." Something in his eyes made me feel uncomfortable.
"Mind if I come in and wait." I definitely wasn't allowed to let anybody come in. This safehouse wasn't exactly legal.
"I'm not sure if-"
"Are you denying me the right to wait for my son?" He asked in a terrifying tone. Something told me he was the type of person that didn't like to be disrespected.
"No. No, of course not. Come in." I looked away as he pushed the door open wider to step in, shutting the door after him. While I stood awkwardly in the living room he sat by the window.
"Are you one of his crew? You certainty don't look like thief." So he new all about Leonard's career choices.
"Yeah, he hired me just a few weeks ago, I work with locks. We don't know each other too well, yet." He nodded absent mindedly as he looked around the room.
"Pathetic." He said when he saw the drawing of Lisa and Leonard that they made when they were little; his tone sent shivers down my spine. "Can't believe he's hiring twigs like you to work for him. Why are you hanging around here anyway? You the maid?" This guy is bad. I realized with a sudden dread that he could see the end table from his seat.
"I'm just taking care of the place til he gets back." I stepped in front of the picture on thetable, hiding our first photo together. Leonard was holding me from behind and kissing me on the cheek. I couldn't let him see that after saying I just worked for him and didn't know him well.
"House sitting, huh? Where did you say he was, again," he asked.
"Oh, right. Ummm... he said not to-"
"Spit it out brat." From his jacket he pulled a gun, setting it on the arm of the chair. I could easily dodge a bullet, but I didn't need him to know my secret. Too many people knew already!
"He had to pick something up. A package at the park." Was that vague enough? Was it too vague? It was a lie. He and Mick were actually getting new ID's and licenses.
"On a heist, huh? Only thing that boy was ever good at." Did he think I meant Leonard was there to steal something... I need to find a way out of here. This is making me so uncomfortable.
"Um... Can I get you some coffee," I asked as I awkwardly tried to knock the photo down behind me before stepping towards the kitchen. It clattered against the table, making me wince. There's no way he didn't hear that.
"Yeah. No sugar, no milk." I scurried into the kitchen, my eyes darting behind me a few times. As soon as I was in front of the sink I turned it on so he didn't hear me calling Leonard. As the phone rang I chewed on my thumbnails, stressing.
"Barry?" Oh thank the gods, I was worried he wouldn't pick up.
"Leonard, there's a man here!" I whisper-shouted, looking back to the entryway to make sure he wasn't there. "He says he's your dad so I let him in which was stupid, but he's being super creepy, and he has a gun which he kinda threatened me with! I'm so sorry, please just come home quick."
There was a pause on the other line that lasted excruciatingly long.
"God damn it, Barry! Sit tight, I'm on my way. Be careful around him. He kills without remorse." What a comforting thought. Hopefully he didn't try to kill me.
"Please hurry." I hung up, sighing as I realized the sink was about to overflow. My trembling hands reached forward to turn the water off, but just as my hand touched the handle I was hit from behind with something hard and heavy, sending me to the floor on my side with a thud. The picture of me and Leonard crashed to the floor beside my face, cracking the frame.
"What the hell is this? You make me sick! You and that useless son of mine." As I was trying to crawl to my knees he kicked me back down. My body rolled towards the dining table but stopped after the second roll. This guy could not be related to Leonard. Not my Leonard.
"I didn't do anything wrong," I wheezed, wondering what was taking my body so long to recover. I guess instant healing and quick healing aren't the same thing. I looked around, racking my brain for a solution. On the back of a dining room chair was my jacket, which had multiple layers and could be used to subdue him. That would have to do. Moving as quickly as possible without using my powers, I lunged for the jacket hanging on the chair. I stood and took one step and slipped on the water flowing over the sink and into the kitchen floor. The epitome of grace.
My head hit the corner of the table, stunning me for a moment. This day has been one big trainwreck. I sat up, numb for a minute as I looked around. The man pulled me up by my hair, punching me in the gut. As he threw me to the floor and pulled his gun out I realized it was probably time I threw caution to the wind.
