Lectures started on Wednesday morning and for the first time in my educational career, I got out of bed wanting to go to class. After my first two lectures I met with Ash in a cafe called 'The Mob' and let's just say we freaked out a bit about being there. It didn't really hit me we were in Olympus until today!
The day went so fast I didn't realise it was night until I got to finally take a breath when I slumped onto my bed. I pulled out my phone and quickly checked the news when I saw a video:
"The death of Bethany Young, Norman Grace and Alan Capello have all come as a great shock to everyone. The three richest people in the UK were all murdered. Bethany Young was murdered just past midnight, investigators say, in her penthouse bathroom. Norman Grace was getting ready for an important meeting when he too was killed, a kitchen knife to the heart. And Alan Capello was killed not three days ago. He had no visible signs on his body but investigators say there was poisoning in his blood. Who is this murderer and why are they targeting the rich and influential among us?"
My hands shook and I took a deep breath, forcing myself not to heat up.
Alan Capello. The bastard was finally killed. I always knew he had it coming. I tell myself it's good that someone finally rid the world of him. But I can't stop my hands from shaking. I put my head between my knees and clenched my hands together. "He had it coming," I repeated to myself over and over.
Rylee walked past me and stopped in her tracks. "What's up with you?"
I take a deep breath and mutter, "Nothing."
"Nothing it is then."
I message mum the link and lie on my bed, staring at the ceiling, waiting for a reply, a call. It'll break her heart to find out her brother's been killed. And knowing her, she'll blame it on herself, using whatever excuse that comes to mind.
He didn't deserve her as a sister and he certainly doesn't deserve any of us mourning his death.
"Have you seen the news recently?" I asked Rylee.
"Yeah, those rich guys' deaths. Kinda sinister don't you think? No fingerprints found. And the fact that everything in the house had been moved by 10cm is hella weird."
"I hadn't heard about that..."
"Hey wait! Isn't Capello... that's your surname right?"
I smile weakly, "Yeah but I don't know the guy, we aren't related."
"Oh," her eyebrows furrow a little, "That's coincidental... not many people named Capello around."
I force out a laugh.
By the time I'm in bed, I've thought over every possible way they could have been murdered.
"There's nothing you can do," I tell myself. "Even if you could, he doesn't deserve your time, you're too busy with uni. Just forget about it."
