Here's the thing: I don't know what my parents will do when they find out I'm leaving. I know that Remington and his brothers will be there, and Andy will be too, but I'm just scared.
You must find me pretty reckless huh? Well, growing up as an only child with nothing but books and art to keep you company will do that to someone. Add in the abusive and controlling parents from the age five and up, and presto! You get someone like me.
In high school I was always the outcast, the last one to be picked for anything, if I was even picked at all. I was always the oddball, the one that got bullied and whispered about behind her back just for being different.
Now you remember my friend Abby? That's where we met.
Freshman year, I was already nervous. Add the fact that I had zero friends, and it was worse.
I had been struggling to get my locker to open, and when it finally did, the person I loathe more than anything, my ex, Braden, almost slammed it shut on my hand. At that moment, along came this sweet, quiet girl who had been on my bus. She walked up to Braden, and despite the fact he was two heads taller than her, she told him off in front of everyone. Since that day we've been best friends. Her and her boyfriend Shane are really sweet.
Let me tell you about Shane. He's a transitioning female to male, and I love him so much. He's super sweet, and very, very artistic. A bit on the quiet side, but he can be very loud when he wants. Him and Abby are the cutest thing ever, like they were made in heaven! They're both perfect for each other and when they're talking I've never seen them happier.
Well, back to my story. More on them later.
Wondering where my biological father is in all of this mess? Easy. They were in high school together, fell in love, and the moment he found out my mom was pregnant with me, he up and left. Couldn't handle commitment. Nineteen years later, he still hasn't tried to find me. Not that I'd want him to in the first place.
After high school I managed to get an art scholarship to a great school that Abby had applied to and got in. Let's just say my parents weren't too happy.
Anyway, college is amazing. There are so many people that I've met who are so amazing. There's my friends; Hayden, Charlie, Aimee, and Chuck. They're all so very artistic and they definitely deserve to be at that school.
Hayden is the quiet but funny type. He's a transitioning female to male and him and Shane are really good friends. He's really good at drawing anything cartoony and cool.
Charlie is quiet and into the same things most of us are: bands, music, art... He's really quiet, quieter than most, but he's sweet.
Chuck...now Chuck, he's a sweetheart. Nicest guy you'be ever met. He gives the best hugs, and he never fails to make me laugh or smile, no matter how bad the day.
Last but not least, Aimee. She's Charlie's girlfriend, and she's the funniest person ever. Truly a sweetheart and definitely cares about all of her friends.
Let's just say without them, I wouldn't be here. You can call the six of us the Hexagon, and trust me. You'll hear a lot of our crazy stories in the future.
