chapter 7

zachs pov||

we were all walking around the grocery store, trying to find food. i looked over at kelsea and she was walking next to corbyn, looking bored.

i decided to catch up to her and walk next to her, i looked at her and smiled as she looked at me and smiled back.

jack was watching me as i said, "i like your shirt." noticing it was a why don't we shirt.

she giggled cutely. "thank you." i nodded.

we continued walking through the isles, as we came across popcorn. "we need popcorn." i said nodding my head, grabbing a box.

they all agreed, as jonah spoke up, "nothin really sounds good tbh."

i nodded. daniel said, "nekter sounds kinda good, idk why."

kelsea's eyes popped up, "i want nekter!" as i said, "same let's go"

corbyn nodded as we all finished grabbing. things for meals and such and walked over to the registers as we paid for everything. we headed back out to the car, i was walking next to kelsea the entire time, she kept her head low though, i wonder what's she's thinking about.

we all got in the car- the usual, i sat in the back row with kelsea and jack and daniel in the middle and corbyn and jonah up front, jonah driving.

when we got to nekter we all got out fast, luckily the line inside wasn't long. we all ordered our bowls and we're waiting for them to be finished when some girl started ordered and kelsea looked at her with wide eyes. i just looked at her like "what".

back to kelsea's pov||

i recognized that girl.

that's tegan, the one i saw on zach's instagram, my old best friend, the one who moved away.

i tried to look away but it was too late, she recognized me. i didn't want to see anyone i knew right now.

tegan paid for whatever she had gotten, and her eyes lit up and she ran to me and hugged me. "kelsea oh my god."

i just smiled and let out a soft "hi."

"how are you? what are you doing here?"

i tried to brush it off, "umm getting nekter"

"no duh! i mean what are you doing in la?" she playfully hit my shoulder.

"i had to move here.."

"ahh," she looked at corbyn and ran to him, "it's been soo long, i follow you all on ig though, can't believe you're in a band."

"yeah it's dope, their my best friends" he smiled.

"that's good!" she smiled back.

i just kind of stood back watching them and waiting for our food when they girl called our names, i grabbed mine and a spoon and sat down. zach sat besides me.

tegan grabbed hers as well and sat next to me, "i was gonna leave but i'll stay and talk." i nodded.

"what school are you at now?" she asked me and i panicked while taking a bite of my food.

"currently i'm doing online school." she just nodded, "what made you come here?"

"it's complicated"

she nodded again, "how's lauren and chase?"

"good.. i think."

the boys just sat there eating and listening to our conversation, while daniel and jonah we're also mid-conversation.

tegan began staring at zach and i felt awkward so i looked down eating my food.

"wait where's your house at?"

"it's the band house, in culver city." i responded.

"i have dance in thirty minutes, i just came here after school but let's hang out okay girl? i live in inglewood. you got my number still right?"

"i think so." i said forgetting if i did.

"if not dm me on ig!!" she said and got up carrying her bowl outside.

the boys stared at me.

"what?" i said annoyed.

"why were you acting so weird?" corbyn asked.

i just shrugged.

"wasn't she you're best friend?"

"yeah but she moved.." i simply said.

"she's super nice kels." corbyn said again. "inglewood is right next to us."

"okay stop." i said finishing off my food and throwing the bowl away.

"okay let's bounce"jack said, trying to change the subject.
"let's film a mashup!" daniel said.

then jonah; "kels can you film for us?"

"sure, at home not here right?" i asked.

"yeah, we do a lot outside in the backyard." jonah added.

all of a sudden floods of texts flooded my phone, as we all headed to the car and got in the same seats as before.

i looked around the car at the boys jumping around to the music as we drove off and i quickly called lauren, she picked up instantly.

"oh my god, so i'm in lunch right now in the bathroom so no one hears me but chase told me him and emily slept together last night. i don't even know what to think, i think he might actually like her dude." lauren rambled on.

zach looked at me as i was on the phone and i spoke into the phone, "woah woah slow down. why would he even want to be with her?"

"i don't know dude, have you talked to him lately?"

then i said; "nope. not a word."

"emily says i fell off the face of the earth" i said again.

the music was blaring through the speakers and i think zach was the only one listening to me.

"yeah she's actually been like nice to me. it's honestly whack. first period she told me we need to hang out, dude you gotta come back. i think she's nice now that you're gone though." lauren explained.

"okay i guess ill stay here"

"no dude i miss you, i don't want this fake emily. chase is brainwashed." she said quietly the last part.

"i don't know what to say" i whispered.
