"Mom please, I'm begging you, please let me switch schools," I said, getting on my knees.
"Erin, you can't go to a school 120 miles away, you'd be late everyday." She answered.
"But I could get my own place."
"That's funny. You're too young for your own place." She said, laughing.
"I could.....move in with Max."
I started to see a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
"Why do you even want to switch schools? And why to Amber's school?"
Because I'm trying to get payback on the people that broke my best friend's heart.
"Because I'm tired of going to my school, the people are complete idiots and I just want to start over. Plus they have an amazing soccer team" I said, trying to look sincere and I was doing a good job at it.
"What about your friends?"
My friends.....that was the question. Should I just abandon all my other friends so I could defend my best friends honor...I mean, I could always see my friends over the weekend or something.
"Switching schools is really important, and my friends will always be here."
"I guess I have to go call Max then." She said, as she walked away.
"Holy shit!!! Thank you times a thousand Mom. I really love you!" I screamed.
I danced my way to my room, blasted my music, and packed my things. I have to admit, I was a bit overly excited. Id have to spice up my look a little because something told me my leggings werent going to cut it there.
"Erin!!!" My mom yelled
"Whats up?" I asked.
"Max said he's okay with you living with him," She said. "and I already called the school. They said they're able to take you."
"Really?!! That's great, thanks again Mom!"
"Yeah yeah yeah. But there are still going to be rules. Here, I made a list of them."
I glanced down at the list she'd given me.
1. Only A's and B's
2. Don't get into trouble
3. Call me everyday to check in
4. No wild parties
5. Help around at Max's house
6. Don't spend all your debit card money too fast. I'm only giving you $200 a month, use it wisely
7. Visit often
8. Even though Max is 22, he's not your guardian, and you can't go and get tattoos and piercings and whatever else you need adult permission to get.
9. Don't do anything you wouldn't do in our house.
10. Anything Max tells you to do, do it without any attitude
"First of all, I'm so proud that you finally learned to type!" I joked. "And secondly, rules numbers 1, 3, 5, and 10 aren't reasonable but fine."
"You wouldn't have to follow them if you stayed here, and Max has a copy of this list, so don't think you can break them without me knowing."
Damn it.
"Okay, okay . Um can I have some money, ive got a few things I need to buy." I asked
"Fine, i'll add some money to your card but I'm deducting it from next month." She said, walking to the office
I bought a few things from stores I knew Amber used to shop at, and if I wasnt such a lazy dresser id probably be wearing these kinds of clothes too. When I got back home I called a few of my friends to tell them id be switching schools and that i'd miss them. A few tears were shed and several promises to hangout and to stay in touch were made.
