I wake up and it's nearly 12:30 on Sunday, which is much later than I like to be up. I go to the bathroom to see how bad my makeup looks after last night and find Gabe passed out in the hallway. I kick him in the side, which wakes him up a bit. He and I share a bathroom, and Carter and Jessie get their own, but neither of us wanted to share a wall with them. Gabe usually lets me know if he plans on having company over, so I can either get out of the room, or put in headphones. I usually go to the library when that happens.

"Gabe get up, you're blocking the bathroom door." I tell him, not really in the mood for anything right now. He gets up and goes to his room and shuts the door, I hear the sound of his body hitting the mattress hard. Yikes, he must've had more than I realized last night. I get into the bathroom, and am startled by the rats nest on my head and how bad my makeup is. I decided there's no use to try and tame it, so instead I jump in the shower and rinse off. For some odd reason, there's glitter on me. I can't quite remember what happened last night, but I came home in one piece so it doesn't really matter. After my shower, I head back to my room to get dressed for the day. I pull on some yoga pants, and a t-shirt that has many holes in it. It was Dad's and it's all I have left of him. He passed away when I was 13, he was a firefighter and went into save a little boy and girl but sacrificed himself in the process. It's just been Mom and I since then. After getting a bit nostalgic, I decide it's laundry day and strip my bed of the sheets on it, grab all my clothes and go into the laundry room in our apartment, and go into the kitchen and begin to cook lunch.

Our apartment is very quiet this morning, the result from us going out last night. Most Sundays, I'm the only one home. On Sundays Gabe and Carter usually go for runs in the park and Jessie is normally working. I make our signature brunch: eggs, bacon, hash-browns, toast, and orange juice, but today we're drinking mimosas, because it's my birthday. Just as I'm topping off the last mimosa, Jessie and Carter come out and sit down, having just showered from the looks of it. I go into Gabe's room with water and some Advil, and start to scratch his back to wake him up.

"C'mon Gabe, it's time to get up! It's my birthday and I decree that you can't sleep anymore! Plus if you get up now I'll do your laundry." I tell him. He wakes up and takes the Advil from me, and then takes the water, I'm about to ask him something and he holds his hand up signaling me to hold on. After he finishes the water and sets the glass down, he tackles me onto the bed and starts to shout/sing happy birthday to me, making me laugh and soon Jessie and Carter are in Gabe's room too, with a cake. I'm immediately struck with a wave of love for these people I have the pleasure of calling my friends. I blow out the candles and then we all go out and eat brunch before it gets too cold.

"Okay, present time! Me first!" This comes from Jessie, who is holding a huge box out in front of me. I open the box, and inside is a blanket with pictures of all of us on it.
