Chapter 1: A New Friend

Leon was flying down the streets of Seattle on his BMX bike, moving as fast as his thirteen-year-old legs could carry him as salty sweat dripped down his face like a waterfall. The smoke and fire almost everywhere. He had just found a glowing shard of something. Leon felt like it was important, so he took it, and that was probably why he was being chased by a monster made of smoke and fire. Civilians were running for their lives, as the Dignified Unity of Protection (DUP) makes an attempt to defeat this fiery beast chasing down Leon. The smoke beast let out a loud yell and shot a blast of fire a few yards to Leon's left, sending him flying into a brick wall.

Falling in and out of consciousness, Leon saw the cloud of smoke and fire turn into a man. He was a conduit, or a "Bio-Terrorist" as the DUP called them. A conduit is somebody with the power to control some kind of element or object. The powers ranged from neon lights, to paper, to even video games. The man wore a red beanie and a chain around his wrist, but the strange thing was that he wasn't trying to kill Leon, he just stood there and held out his hand and said, "Just give me what I want and nobody gets hurt. It's simple."

Leon reached for his bag and handed it to the smoky guy. As soon as the man's hand clutched the bag, Leon grabbed his hand in an attempt to get up and make a break for it, but both of them fell to the ground and practically fainted. Leon was in a vast dreamscape with the remnants of the smoke man's past, from the scene where he was holding a police officer's hand, keeping him from falling to his death. The police officer was covered in concrete as he let go of the smoke man's hand and fell into the blue abyss that is the ocean. Then it showed when the man first got his powers. He was terrified, but learned to love his powers.

When Leon woke up, he saw that the the fire guy was waking up too. "You have no idea what you just got yourself into," the man said. "Welcome to the club, because you're a conduit now." "What? Cool!"Leon exclaimed in awe. He then shot some smoke uncontrollably at a wall. It exploded with flame. Leon commented, "Oh, and uh... I didn't catch your name." "Delsin. Delsin Rowe. Meet me at the Space Needle tomorrow at 3:00 A.M. See ya there" He flew off in a puff of smoke. "Delsin, huh?"
