**•**Nick's POV**•**

We have bitten the Big Apple to its core. Now we are leaving and not turning back. I'm going to miss New York City, the urban lights, the diverse people, and the Broadway wannabes performing on the streets to get some extra dough.

Now we are going far away to the state of Indiana to live in a small town of 1,000 just outside of Indianapolis. We are moving because Father got a well paying job as a music teacher, mainly choir, at the local high school. He retired from Broadway last spring (just two months ago) and he and Dad made the decision together to move on with their lives. Dad had retired from Broadway a year before to plan his new fashion line.

Our move worked out perfect. Leia was in college, going to a world renowned dance school, Father was done with Broadway and looking for a more low key position as a teacher, and Dad was super excited about starting his new business. It seemed I was the only one not ready. I had many friends in NYC and I was in a teen boy band that we had started in eighth grade. My grades were at their best and I was making money off of performing weekly at an old diner where Dad used to work and perform regularly. The folks at the diner love me and know me like close family. I am not in the least ready to move to a small town a few states away.

"Say one last good-bye, Nick." Father told me as we stood in the doorway to our house, which wasn't even our house anymore because we had just sold it to a young couple.

I sighed and looked around the walls, now stripped of their former glory. All the rooms were bare and seemed so foreign yet still vaguely familiar in my mind. It was the only home I had ever remembered, we had moved into it two years after I was born.

"You ready?" Dad asked.

I reluctantly turned my back to the house. "Not really, but let's go."

Father squeezed my shoulder and I caught Dad giving him a solemn stare as we slowly walked down the front steps for the last time and went to catch a subway to the airport. All our other belongings were already on their way to the new house in moving trucks.

Soon New York was behind me and Indiana before me. A new page in my life was about to turn.
