A nervouse glance.
7.50.
They were supposed to meet at 8, but Kang Daniel couldn't help but be early. After all, they say that first impressions. He wanted to be punctual and do everything in his power to let her know thar he believed thier first date was of the utmost importance.
And it is important. He knows it.
Dressed in what he thought was immaculate, Daniel is decked in a classy light-blue shirt, brown chinos amf his best pair of loafers. Perfect.
He checks his shirts for creases. None.
He checks is shoes for scruffs. None.
He is ready.
7:53.
He checks his phone to see if she dropped a message to say she was close by
"Maybe i should have borrowed the car, " he sighs. Daniel had wanted to, but the act of borrowing the car from his uncle usually required a return favour that took far more time and effort than his uncle often claimend. Daniel, unlike a number of his peers was not from an affluent family nor was he anyway close to possessing the 'right amount' of wealth.
It shouldn't matter, but some of the people he had dated did conveniently and gradually disappear from his life upon this knowledge. So, apparently, it did matter to some extent."Not to her. She's different, " he echoes inside his head.
Everything that Daniel knew about Zattie pointed to the fact that she was too deep and profound to be someone whose attitude could change because of someone's wealth. And in this day and age, someone like that is becoming increasingly hard to find.
"She is one of a kind".

Daniel's plan for the first date, perhaps, was a little unromantic, but he didn't dare to plan something to elaborate especially since she had seemed busy with work in the days of late. He stuck to the tried and tested formula of a simple, quick meal, followed by a romantic movie, hopping that the time they had to talk and laugh together would be good enough to at least lighten her mood, or better, make her smile.
Provided she turns up.
She isn't here yet.

"Maybe it's just mt watch. " Daniel ponders, as he took yet another glance at the dials of his silver, stainless steel watch.
They relatively dated Tommy Hilfiger watch was a graduation gift from his parents, and perhaps, as Daniel long suspected since it has accompanied him through far too many adventures, it had finally lost its ability to tell time accurately.
8:00
The time on Daniel's phone negates his niggling suspicious and reminds him that his trusty watch is on time, and that she, is not.
Checking his phone to see if she dropped a message to say she was close by, Daniel soon found out that she didn't .
He starts to become a little more anxious.
"Maybe she was just caught up with work," he reasons.
Perhaps it is a good thing that she is late. That is what they say right? That if your date is late, then she is late because she had spent a lot of time and effort to look her best for him. Maybe when she ended work in the evening, she had gone home to put on some nicer clothes. Or, well, maybe all the 'advice' given to him the previous night by his buddies had just been silly generalisation.
