You're laying in bed with your husband Chris. One of his arms is draped over your waist, holding you to him loosely. You slowly come to consciousness when you hear a thud from down stairs. Lifting your head off the pillow, your brow furrows as you listen for anything else. After a moment of silence, you start to relax, but then you hear another thud and a small crash from something breaking. Your heart rate speeds up, and you turn over in Chris' hold.

"Chris... Chris, wake up..." You whisper, gently nudging him. He groans softly, before blearily opening his eyes.

"Hmm, what's wrong, Love?" He tightens his arms around you, while moving his head closer, so it rests next to yours.

"I think someone's in the house..."

He narrows his eyes, leaning back a few inches.

"What?"

"I heard something break downstairs, along with some other noise... I think someone's in our house, Chris..."

He rubs your back, before quietly sitting up.

"I'll go check it out. Take your phone and hide in the bathroom, okay?"

You nod, and he bends down, placing a kiss on the crown of your head. He gets out of bed, then reaches down beside his nightstand, picking up one of his Thor hammers. He holds it up for you to see, while wearing a reassuring smile.

"I'll be right back."

You whisper back an 'okay' before you watch him walk out the bedroom door. You get out of bed, grabbing your phone and make your way to the bathroom. Once you're in there, you quietly lock the door and call the police, just in case. While the phone rings, you listen for any indication of Chris confronting an intruder, but hear none.
When the police answer, you tell them what might be happening, and that you aren't sure if it's just a false alarm or not. They tell you that they'll send someone over to check up on you and make sure everything is okay. After thanking them, you hang up, letting out a breath. You just start to calm down, when you hear something break again, louder this time, and yelling. Your breathing picks up, and you stay as quiet as you can. You suddenly hear someone's pounding footsteps run up the stairs. You quickly look around you for anything you could use as a weapon. Seeing another Thor hammer by the toilet, you grab it and hold it up in front of you. You hear someone open your bedroom door, and you think for a moment that it could be Chris. You almost open the bathroom door, in case Chris needs to hide, but then decide against it. If it was Chris, he would've said so by now...
You hold your breath, barely able to hear anything above the pounding of your heart.
A minute goes by, before you see the doorknob to the bathroom start to turn. It doesn't open, so they try harder. Still, the lock holds true. Suddenly, someone tries kicking it open, and you flinch harshly, barely holding back a shriek.
Then you hear a door slam, and Chris' voice yell out,

"Hey!"

The sound of fighting ensues, and you stand staring at the door, shaking like a leaf.
You slowly reach for the doorknob, unlocking it. You quietly open the door, just enough to peek out and see Chris fighting a masked man dressed in black. The man has a big hunting knife and is slashing it out towards Chris. Your eyes tear up in fear for your husband, and you quickly decide to try to help him. The man's back is facing you, so when you step out of the bathroom, the only one to notice is Chris. His eyes go wide briefly when he sees you, but just as quickly, he's forced to continue fighting. You quietly walk up behind the man, raising the hammer up with both arms. You quickly bring the hammer down on the man's head, swinging with all your might. He stumbles around, looking as if he's about to tip over. He looks at you, eyes unfocused, and you swing at him again, hitting him across the face. He drops into a heap on the floor, and you let out a long, shaky breath. You look up from the unconscious man, and look at Chris, whose eyes are already on you. You see bruises starting to appear on his face and torso, causing you to let out another shaky breath. Your lip starts to tremble, and your eyes fill with tears, as you drop the hammer and quickly walk over to Chris. He wraps you in his arms, holding you tightly as he buries his face in the crook of your neck. You sob onto Chris' bare chest, holding onto him desperately as you release all the built up fear and tension. He strokes one of his large hands through your hair, moving his face up to your ear, where he starts whispering sweet nothings to help calm you down. You breathe out harshly, and Chris pulls back just enough to take your face in both of his hands.

"Hey, hey, hey. Shhh, Love. It's okay now. See, look. We're both okay. Breathe..."

You nod, trying to slow your breathing down.

"That's it, come here." He pulls you back to his chest, and you breathe in deep, picking up the different scents from Chris' skin. After a moment, you calm down, and feel the exhaustion kick in. You lean heavily against Chris, about to comment on how scared you were, when you hear your doorbell ring. You scoff, but it's muffled by Chris' chest. He furrows his brow, looking down at you a bit confused.

"They're late." You mumble.

"Who?"

"The police."

"You called the police?" Chris asks, tilting his head to the side.

"Mmhmm..."

He smiles, leaning down to kiss your head.

"We should probably go down there before they break the door down."

You chuckle lazily, while detangling yourself from him.

"Yeah, probably. We also don't want to be around that guy when he wakes up." You gesture over to the man on your floor. Chris smirks, wrapping an arm around you as you two walk out of the room.

"Well, there's another guy down stairs, so..."

You stop, looking up at Chris.

"What do you mean there's another guy? There were two guys?"

"Yeah, how do you think that one managed to get upstairs? I couldn't fight both at once."

You smirk at him gently, wrapping your arms around his neck.

"Oh, and here I thought you were just getting slow..."

He smiles at you before swooping his head down, crashing his lips to yours. You pull back almost immediately after, because of the doorbell going off once again. Chris makes a face in the direction of the door, causing you to roll your eyes and shake your head lightly. He takes your hand again, continuing down the steps.

"We're finishing that later."

You smile, as he reaches for the door handle. You'll be finishing a lot of things later...
