Authors note: I know this story is supposed to be about Yuzuru Hanyu and it will be, I promise. For now, I'm kinda building up the personality of the main character. And to anyone who thinks this story is a Yuzuru x Female OC fic, I am sorry to inform you otherwise. Hopefully, I will be able to get the next few chapters out tonight, if not, expect them tomorrow.

I had been going to the same rink to practice for what felt like forever. I guess they got used to me coming every single day for hours. So when I ran up the front steps and through the front door one minute past closing time, they let me in. I have no idea why maybe they saw the desperation in my eyes (competition day was the next day and I felt the need to practice) but they let me in. And they continued to let me in early or late, weekend or weekday. Today they didn't even blink as I blew through the front doors and into the half-empty rink. I drifted mindlessly around the rink, spinning around slowly and doing a few single jumps.

The thing is, if I went to Canada to train with Brian Orser, I would be going alone. My parents both had stable, well-paying jobs here in Crescent City, California that they wouldn't be able to leave behind. I would have to fend for myself. I mean that sounds like a  fantasy for a few people but when you think about it a little bit its a stress-fest.

But at the same time, skating was the only serious career choice I could ever see myself committing too. Like I said before, skating is my passion. My entire life was based on skating, I honestly would do anything to pursue a career in skating, so what do I do?

Sometimes all you need is for something to snap you out of your daze.

Suddenly I collided with the skating rink edge, slamming into the wall with a resounding crack and a white-hot burst of pain. I bounced off the wall and my momentum swung me back into something (someone??) solid. We landed in a pile on the ice. I groaned and clutched at my aching head. Ouch.

As I tried to blink away the spots that lined my vision I heard a soft voice, somewhere close to my face. "Hey? Are you alright?"

The last thing I saw before blacking out was a pair of sharp, cat-like grey eyes. Then all I saw was darkness.
