My mom thrust my newborn baby, Faith, at me and shook her head. "Maria. I told you that you would be kicked out of my house if you had a child while still living with me. And what do you do? Have a frickin' baby! So go, leave."

Tears were streaming down my face, but my mom's face was emtionless. When she had told me about the no babies in the house rule, I thought she had been kidding, so I went and messed around with Toni. Then BOOM Faith came.

I clutched her closer to my chest. "But mom, where will I go? You can't do this! I can't be homeless with a baby." My mom tok a shaky deep breath. "Maria, I told you what would happen if you had a baby. So now, you are no longer welcom in my house. I have tried to raise you to do the best that you can do in life, but then you just go and have a baby. You're only sixteen, and youve made some really bad dissions. Please, go, just go."

My mom turned around shaking. I could tell it was hard for her to do this, but she did warn me. "Mama," I cried. "Where will i stay?" My mom answered me, her back still facing me. "Go live with that god-damned baby maker of yours. Get out of my house now Maria. Go." my mom walked down the hallway, out of sight. I sighed and walked out the door.

I stood infront of the apartment complex, thinking. I couldnt go to Toni's house, he freaked out when he found out about Faith, and then broke up with me, saying it wasnt his baby. Hell yeah it was his baby, but who was I kidding? He still couldnt help me. I thought some more, but nothing came to mind. I wasnt too close to many people and was never very social, so I didnt have a best friends house to stay at for a while or anything.

There was a place for mothers and their children a few blocksu away fromm where I stood now though. But I had heard that it was dirty and had horrible living conditions, but if you asked me Id say it was better than living on the streets. So thats where I intended to go.

I arrived at Moms and Children Care Center a few minutes later. I knocked on the tall wooden doors and a plump black woman opened it. I smiled, and she ushered me in, smiling sweetly at Faith who was sound asleep in my arms.

Inside the care center, it was well lit and a bunch of peoplr were walking around, busy. There was a large desk with a few women behind them, and one of them waved me over. She had black hair tied up in a bun. She smiled brightly and clasped her hands.

"Hello! Welcome to the mothers and children care center." she glanced at Faith. "Im guessing that you need a room, right?" I nodded. "Okay then, follow me!" She handed me a plastic card, one of the things that you swipe in the dorrways to get into a room, and I followed her into the elevator. She pressed the 9th floor button, and we zoomed up.

The lady opened the door to my room and we both stepped in. My room was very modern, with one bed in the middle up against the wall, a crib beside the bed, a couch, a flat screen tv infront of the bed, two dressers against the wall, and a mini kitchen with a bar. There was a seperate door leading into a small bathroom too. I gasped as I took all this in. Shit, it was even better than my moms apartment and it looked like a hotel too!!

The lady stood at the door. "Im Jenny if you happen to need me for something and I hope you enjoy your stay!" she left. I glanced around one more time, and sighed. It was time to start my new life, with Faith

~Chapter 2

Faith and I were settled nicely into the room. I had unpacked the few things I had brought with me, called my mom and left a voicemail about how great I was doing so far, and right now I was counting the amount of money I had.

I sighed and plopped the money back onto the bed. I don't know if $20 dollars would be enough to pay for this place, but it would have to do. But how much did this place cost anyway? I looked into the crib where Faith was still asleep, and slipped out of the room to ask Jenny a few questions.
