I whizzed around the gigantic oak desk humming to myself. I volunteered my spare time after school to our schools library which we had nicknamed the Tank. Mainly because you could see the ocean from the front windows.
Which meant lots of meeting people who weren't really, let's just say were looking out of the window when they were being taught manners.
At least today was one of the less busier days so I had time to digest the information I had just found out from Mim today.
Although Mim was a gossip lover whatever came out of his mouth was true. It's like he wrote his gossip in one book and held tightly onto the Bible with the other. He was that honest.
I stared at the pile of books that I was supposed to log back into the system after they had been returned. Some were about looking up foreign countries so I had a thick stack of books that had to be put back onto the resources shelf. That was on the other end off The Tank, I wasn't in the mood for walking so far.
"Hi, I'm sorry to trouble you but I need a slip?" A freshman timidly drummed her fingers on the counter top.
"Sure," I stood up and gave her an easy smile. This seemed to scare her more.
Whoever decided to put the main desk up on a platform didn't think about these poor freshmen and how scared they would be.
The desk was located at the entrance of the double storey building that was our library. It was on a raised platform and there was a smaller standing platform for the borrower to stand on.
I printed the slip that would let her download whatever she needed to.
Our school like every other school had free Wi-Fi but to download large files you had to retain a slip from either the librarian or at the admins.
More often than not these people came here rather than going to the main block and risk bumping into the teachers or one of the deans.
"Just type in the code where they ask for it," I tapped my painted nail in the code at the bottom of the page.
"Thank you," She smiled and took the paper.
I turned back to the computer and began to login the books. The library was empty and only that one girl was here so I didn't have to check over at the tables.
There was silence and that was exactly what I needed to think. Silence was your minds best friend or worst enemy, whichever way you choose to look at it.
I was almost done with the pile of books when I heard someone clear their throat at the platform.
"Give me a second please," I barely glance up at the person as I typed in the last few digits and logged in the book in my hand.
"I can't give you a few seconds but I can wait," A familiar voice chuckled softly to me.
I knew that voice all too well. And I really wanted to punch the person whose voice it belonged to.
"Hi," I shyly smiled and pushed my glasses up my nose.
I was shocked by how calm I sounded myself even though I felt like clawing his face out.
"Are you feeling okay?" My brain raised it's eyebrows at me.
"I can't sound like a PMSing Brittany Spears wanna be to him now can I," I defended my actions.
"I'm sure it is so not about you being as scared of him as a cookie would be about the cookie monster," Brain sniffed snobbishly.
"Blue looks good on you," Dominic pointed to my deep blue pair of glasses on my face.
